My exciting first post is .... a maths question. :unsure I'm trying to use the methods in Fixed Odds Sports Betting by J. Buchdahl to define the fair odds for each rating in a ratings system I am developing. I have produced a curved best-fit line for away predictions, and the best-fit line has the equation y = 0.0011x2 - 0.0089x + 0.3569. (Where x2 signifies x squared). My question is ... using x = 10 as an example, do I a) multiply 10 by 0.0011 and then square that figure (= 0.000121) b) square 10, and then multiply that figure by 0.0011 (= 0.11) c) stop asking stupid questions and stick to using a pin Sorry to all those who are now :zzz Ta - Muz.
