Test series begins at 6am Thursday morning. My series bets are: 8pts K.Sangakkara Top SL Series Bat 5/2 Stan James
Sangakkara has given up the wicket keeping duties for this series to concentrate on his batting. At his best there's little doubt he's a World class batsman and Sri Lanka hope he can be at his best in this series. The only significant chance to the batting line-up from the 3rd test in England is that Sanath Jayasuriya will open instead of Edgbaston centurion Michael Vandort. To be honest it looks a 2 horse race between Sangakkara and Jayawardene and given that Sangakkara top scored in the test series in England I'll take him to do so again here. 5pt J.Rudolph Top SA Series Bat 9/2 Bet365 Jacques Rudolph is a bit of an under achiever for South Africa but he has made some important knocks for them when they've needed it. With no Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis for this series there's a more than good chances they will need it here. In the past his technique has come unstuck against quick bowlers on fast wickets but he's got no such problems here as the pitches will be low and slow. He had a great warm-up for this series hitting 157 and 50 in the match against Sri Lanka A and traditionally plays spinners well which is half the battle out here. With SA missing their 2 frontline batsmen I'm going to take a punt on Rudolph to step up to the plate in this 2-match series.

I donlt like anything in the Top SL Bat but I'll play these 2. 10pts Sri Lanka to win 1st test 2.14 Betfair South Africa come into this series without captain Graeme Smith and all rounder Jacques Kallis. They are 2 huge losses. Another problem they face is they don't have a World class spinner either. Nicky Boje's adequate but he won't bowl a side out on his own. Sri Lanka are without Chaminda Vaas for this match and he'll be a big loss having had a terrific series in England. That means their bowling attack will be Malinga, Fernando and Maharoof which should do a job. Then in turn they'll have Muralitharan to turn to for wickets. Murali is a matchwinner on his own and can be the difference between winning and losing for Sri Lanka. With the hosts coming into this series on the back of an impressive tour of England they'll be full of confidence and I take them to beat the depleted South Africans in the series opener. 4pts J.Rudolph Top SA Bat (1st innings only) 11/2 Skybet I've tipped Jacques Rudolph for top series bat and I thik he's overpriced to top score here. It isn't SA's 1st choice batting line-up and I feel of them all Rudolph is most comfortable playing spin. Having hit 157 and 50 on the tour already his confidence will be bubbling, he knows he has to deliver to get back in the SA side full time and I think he'll bat well in these conditions.
