Masterplan
Re: STT selection advice please in any $5 game that i have recorded i've only ever lost HU twice out of the 21 times i've got that far. maybe you should play a few HU games and see if you improve any further
AJ
Re: STT selection advice please Might be an good idea, although I've just played another 5 play $5, and won it, despite starting the Hu with 865 to his 6500+, took ages to wear him down
GaF
Re: STT selection advice please Agree totally - play some Heads Up games :ok (though they are obviously different due to the High M) From this and othe knowledge of your game, seems like you are a very solid player - but maybe you are failing to move through the gears as you go through the tournament and your M shrinks? Would recommend that you try and watch one of the Poker Night Live "Beat the Presenter" STT's (between Midnight and 1AM BST - can watch on the net) and pay special attention to how tight it starts off and how they move through the gears as the blinds increase. Also, If you have Harrington on Holdem II, make sure you read the section on Inflection Points - too aggressive for STT's, but the underlying principles should be understood....... (I posted a summary of Inflection Points here - http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26592) If your problem is moving through the gears and loosening up in the latter stages, then I would suspect 10 seat games would be more profitable for you :ok
ubermonkey1
Re: STT selection advice please i think both sets of advice are very good . hu practise is vital for any facet of the game ,even if your in a 2000 man tourney you've gotta go head's up to win it so the practise is worth it whatever type of game your playing most of stt's or mtt's. also gafs advice about changing gears is excellent as well ,it makes you much more difficult to read in the later stages if you havent played many hands early on, and i find it very handy for pinching a few cheeky blinds later on when the pots are much larger
