Re: Johnny Chan qualifier That's what's confusing me, surely if there's not enough players they should cancel it. Got money OK but if they continue to play with too few players they're effectively transferring you to a $90 STT which is a completely different thing isn't it?

Got money OK but if they continue to play with too few players they're effectively transferring you to a $90 STT which is a completely different thing isn't it?[/quote'] personal feeling is they expected this to be a lot more popular than it is at the moment.the smallest sats are only attracting about 20 or so,therefore by the time it reaches the $90 game to the final they are lucky to get more than 5 or 6 players so only a cash prize is given, last time i looked there was only 1 entrant into the final and that may well have been a direct buy in.

There's no added value in this and there's nothing to stop you winning your entry fee on other sites- surely that defeats the idea of the promotion?

Re: Johnny Chan qualifier

I suspect this is really a qualifier to the Charlie Chan Invitational - its a chinese restaurant on Turks st in Manchester - save your money :loon
:lol :lol Judging by what happened to Joe and Fenners I would be very wary about playing anything on Goalpoker. I downloaded the site last week, thankfully I didn't deposit any money. Last night after reading the other thread I deleted it from my system. Stick with the ones you can trust if yi ask me :ok

Re: Johnny Chan qualifier I'm sure it's not just them though, every poker site doesn't have the cash in hand to cover the balance in peoples accounts, like banks they operate on confidence and the principle that everyone will not want to withdraw at the same time. They use the money in accoutn balances to pay for promotions and advertising, in the hope it generates enough new customers to square it all away at some future point. There should be the same level of regulation for online sites that Las Vegas casinos have, they are legally required by the nevada gaming comission to keep enough cash on site to cover the value of every chip in the building. (yes, I learned that from Oceans 11)

Re: Johnny Chan qualifier Tried again last night on the $4 same again, only 18 regged needed 22 it turned into a winner takes all tourney. I still fail to see any added value here. I don't want to have a go at Goalpoker for the hell of it, and I'll wait to see the outcome of the current problems are before assuming too much, but this is crazy and I wont be entering any more JC tourneys.

Re: Johnny Chan qualifier I was under the impression that all money in players accounts was ring fenced, in that the site does not touch it for advertising and promtions etc.I mean they are getting their rake from the customers money - would they not use this. I believe that this is the case for Betfair. I am worried about this as I have heard that some smaller US sites have closed after CEO was arrested. However, this was due to the sites having sportsbooks attached which causes legal problems stateside. I would be vary wary of leaving much money in sites and I plan to now have balances with the big UK sites ie laddies, bet 365, will hill etc.

Re: Johnny Chan qualifier I was about to post something similar to Skellers. I'm sure I read in the T&Cs of the last site I downloaded (probably Pokerstars, and yes, I always read the T&Cs when I reg!) that money deposited is kept in a client account and is therefore ring-fenced. I would certainly expect this of any site. Surely the majority of the money won on sites comes from other players and therefore the total of the deposits (in the client a/c) should be able to cover most of the account balances. Promotions and added value of course are another thing. Surely the circumstances with GP are more likely to be that they couldn't secure a WSOP place or fulfil the hospitality requirements (unless places are unlimited?):unsure
