His son is riding for him as usual over the minimum 5f. Was noted as a likely improver when showing early speed last time out, only finishing 5th of 8 but should benefit from the experience and is available at 10-1 with Ladbrokes early price. 3.05 York Niteowl Lad Confidence 6/10 This looks a poor race with some exposed horses. Won its last two races of last season on good and good to firm ground over this trip. Last run was disappointing but that was over 6f and once its chance had gone it was eased so did not have such a hard race. I'm thinking they just ran it to get it sharp for today back over 5f. Carrying a low weight from near the bottom of the handicap and is available at 12-1 with Bet365 early price. 4.45 York Epicurean Confidence 5/10 Not overly confident about this horses chances but it ran well enough over 1m2f last time out at Pontefract although that was from off the pace on Good to Soft ground. Trainer says it needs cut in the ground yet it won its maiden on good to firm and finished 3rd on good to firm. Worth a small ew bet at 16-1 with Bet365 and only 3lbs higher than last time out.
