Janus
I was wondering if anyone can answer (maybe an obvious) question for me. Why do jockeys bounce their backsides on the backs of the horses they ride when they are supposedly trying to win the race?? I watched a race yesterday (NH) where there were 3 horses left battling it out in the last 6 furlongs. The leading jockey stood up and let the horse do his thing and used his whip when necessary. The other two jockeys kept bouncing their backsides on the horses back all the way round. The leading horse won. Now not actually being a horse Im not an expert but common sense tells me if I am running a race I would sooner you kept your butt off my back rather than keep bouncing it up and down on me. What does everyone else think? I am fairly new to some of the detail surrounding horses racing (not betting!) so feel free to call me thick if Im missing something obvious!! THE % MAN
Re: Bouncing Jockeys If you new which ones they were before the race was run you would be backing a lot more winners. In most instances when that happens the horses are getting to the end of their stamina and I think the Jockeys know that and give up the ghost. On the odd occation the Jockey may also be nackered or c***. I doubt if you will ever see 1 of those win only if something in front falls.
