Problem staying logged in

Recommended Posts

Hi, I believe there's something wrong with the log in system, as the log in cookies are not working properly. Here at PL you encourage people supplying adiquate reasoning, which I completely agree with. However this means I take a while to type out my posts, I want to make sure my facts are straight. The problem is this, I log in, read a thread, hit reply (still logged in here), type reply out which could take 30mins to do, hit submit. What then happens is the forum says (unexpectedly) 'You need to log in' , I log in again and click proceed, It says I've logged in, then says 'Invalid Thread specified' and hey presto, I've lost all my post. I know I could copy it before submitting, or type it out on a notepad, but this isn't what you'd call convenient is it, not what you'd espect from a bulletin board! This has happened 10-20 times to me, and I find now I am cutting my posts short, as I don't want to spend 20mins re-typing posts over and over again. In short it's really Pi**ing me off. I run some forums and can take a guess that the cookie expiry is set completely wrong. I certainly don't have this problem with any of the 4 forums I run... Sorry if I seam a bit short, it's just happened and I've lost a post that took me 40mins to get right, I'm at work and I din't have another 40mins to work out and re-write it all, so I'm a little miffed, but still, this does smack of a forum problem... Edit: saying that, this post took 10mins to type, and it didn't dump me out, how tempermental is that!!

Re: Problem staying logged in Hiya Zulu. Show me some patience, as I'm not an expert, but experienced similar problems. These are some of the things I did to correct them. Have you got the 'remember me' box checked when you log in? Have you got PuntersLounge bookmarked? If you have, try the following; Delete the bookmark AND all cookies related to PuntersLounge, then log in. Once logged in add the page to your favourites. I doubt it will help with your problem, but it did mine. HTH anyway.:ok
