The Poker-Music Thread

Hey there! On my way home from work I got to thinking how many songs there are out there that remind me of poker, some just because of the title and some because of what they sing in the song. SO...I thought, why not make a thread where everyone lists songs they come to think of, or maybe even songs they like to listen to when playing poker ? From the top of my head:

  • Motorhead - Ace of Spades
  • Iron Maiden - Aces High
  • Aerosmith - Decues Are Wild
  • Aerosmith - Kings And Queens
  • Aerosmith - S.O.S. (Too Bad)

:drums :nana Maybe a stupid and boring thread, oh well...

Re: The Poker-Music Thread

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds gets me up and running :clap
The ones that sing the "Something's gotten hold of my heart" song ? Nice song btw, even for a macho guy like me :eyes Edit: Oh and when im on a losing streak or just having alot of bad beats I like to listen to really sad songs, like: Aerosmith's "You See Me Crying", "Cry Me A River" ... you can tell I like Aerosmith, right ? Especially the old albums from the 70s!

Re: The Poker-Music Thread The current Franz Ferdinand album was released just before The Sun final and the track 'This Boy' constantly reminds me of that game 'coz the chorus repeats 'I want a car'! Talking Heads 'Take Me to the River' reminds me of poker too... it goes something like 'take me to the river... drown me in the waters' (feel free to correct me if I'm totally wrong!)... definately appropriate when recalling bad beats!! :lol

Re: The Poker-Music Thread Now, this may be sad, but here goes. I apologise in advance if any of the words are wrong. Got it on CD and play it on my way to the casino for a poker game to get me in the right mood. AHEM, AHEM (clearing throat). On a warm summer's evening On a train bound from nowhere Met up with a gambler Both too tired to speak So we took turns in staring Out the window at the darkness Boredom overtook us And he began to speak He said "Son I've made a life Out of reading peoples faces Knowing what the cards were By the way they held their eyes So if you don't mind my saying I can see you're out of aces For a taste of your whisky I'll give you some advice" So I handed him my bottle And he drank down my last swallow Then he palmed a cigarette And asked me for a light The night got deafly quiet And his face lost all expression "If you're gonna play the game boy You've got to learn to play it right" "You got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away Know when to run You don't count your money When you're sitting at the table There'll be time enough for counting When the dealing's done" "Every gambler knows The secret to survivin' Is knowing what to throw away And knowing what to keep Cos every hand's a winner And every hand's a loser The best that you can hope for Is to die in your sleep" And when he finished speaking He turned back towards the window Crushed out his cigarette And headed off to sleep And somewhere in the darkness The gambler he broke even And in his final words I found an ace that I could keep "You got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away Know when to run You don't count your money When you're sitting at the table There'll be time enough for counting When the dealing's done" :$ :D Please, no :puke ing.
