UK Poker Roadshow

Dunno about anyone else but I think this UK Poker Roadshow that's advertised in this months Poker Player is a bit of a swizz. For those not in the know, the organisers are holding live tournaments at different locations in the UK. The advert says that there are no entry fees and you could get a crack at winning £2000. HOWEVER, to even be in with the faintest of hope of getting a seat at the table you've got to call an 090 number which... wait for it... costs £1.50. Entrants are then drawn from those who made the phone call. Now, in my eyes, that's a blatant rip-off as you could sit down at an on-line table for nothing and get a crack at a bigger prize pool (tonights Party Poker $50,000 UK only freeroll for example). Anyone got any other thoughts?

Re: UK Poker Roadshow Who Wants to be a Millionaire comes to mind. That's how they work too. I know someone who has made many calls to WWTBAM, got the right answer, but has never been picked to go on the programme. Looks like this is the same. Having said that, I guess someone has to be a winner.

Re: UK Poker Roadshow I agree with GAF on this one. Had a scratch card with my sky magazine, scratched the window and found 3 symbols with £1000 on them. Looked at the terms and conditions and it says 'You are guaranteed to win a prize worth that amount' I would guess it is £1000 off a £10,000 holiday or similar. If anyone wants I can give them the code and premium number to call to claim it (£1.50 per minute)
