Thank you for your input to this thread, I am always very interested to hear about fellow spread bettors thoughts, and in particular, any systems or strategies being tested or used, successful, or otherwise. Your sell TGM's trades are, obviously, similar to the STGMSS strategies that I have been running in this thread, and reflect my own thoughts about, and experiences in, this market. You are correct in your observations, and wise to watch the first 10 or 15 minutes of the match before a decision to trade is made. The spread does drop during this time, if no goals are scored, but very slowly, as an early goal is worth very few points. And, indeed more goals are scored proportionately in the last 15 minutes than at any other time, so closing your trade at this stage is a wise strategy. The extra few points profit made against the additional risk factor of losing 80+ points is just not worth it. I am sure you are familiar with the 'sinking' feeling when 2 late goals are scored. All in all, my records currently show little advantage in running a TGM trade to the end of the match. Incidentally, you may already know, but the soccer-stat website provides data on goal times, when they occur, ratio %'s, in 15 minute sections, for most teams. Although I expect if there are any goals they will be scored early in the match, meaning a low TGM points value, it is not unknown for M.U. to score a few late goals, and Villa's defence may be stretched after 80 minutes, if they hold out that for long. I am trading in Total goal minutes....if you are not familiar with spread betting, then log on to the www.sportingindex.com home page, and click the 'how to spread bet' header in the middle of the page, at the top. Read all about spread betting, and it will explain the concept of the total goal minutes trade bet, better than I can. I do trade my own bets in running, but sometimes it is difficult to post here, when I trade out. I'm not suggesting that you do this, but watch out for a contrasting second half.. And both teams are known for late goals, so consider a close at 80 mins or so.
