Lay System With Horses

Comment on the following lay system: 1 - Lay 2nd-3d favourites when they turn blue (price drifting) 2 - Offer the bet 1 minute before the off The reason we should n't lay the jollies is because they quite often win in spite of a small drift, e.g. when the drift is from 2.20 to 2.50 (that's at any rate the proposition). Also we don't lay rank outsiders because we don't know if the market makes any sense for those. The reason we wait until 1 minute before the off is to catch the final market situation as best as we can. Is this likely to work well ? Are the bettors going to respond in this short space of time ?
