1) Pot odds. I haven't quite mastered them yet but would i be right in saying they can be calculated by approximately (number of outs x 2) +2 ? 2) Age I dont think it affects any of us, but what is the minimum age for playing 18 or 21 as gambling is in America? 3) Proffesional I fyou were to become a pro and play for a living is it better to play cash games or tournaments? Hope someone can help. Thanks

Re: A few Questions Pot odds are an inexact science in so far as you can never know exactly what cards your opponents have, you also can't be 100% sure the hand your drawing to is good, unless you're drawing to the nuts. But basically yes, it's just calculating the likelihood of hitting your hand against how much money you stand to win, so if you have a 1 in 11 chance of hitting that inside straight on the river, but you're going to win 13 times your money should you hit it, its right to call even though you're an underdog because you have value in the long term. There's also the idea of implied odds, which is where you don't have pot odds at that time, but based on your knowledge of the table/players and your own play, you believe you will eventually have retrospective pot odds on making a call. Better players make more calls on implied odds because they have a greater ability to build the pot skillfully should they hit. Age i think is 18 most places, 21 in the US. On the last question, not sure I'm one to advise, but I'd say it depends what you're good at. People make a living doing both, cash is probably more common, but there are successful tournament specialists out there, particularly SnG players. They're a very different skill is all, you'll rarely be making that 1 in 11 call on the river in tournament play.
