Add-ons

slapdash

In rebuy tournaments, I know it's generally right to rebuy when you lose all your chips, since 2000 chips are worth a lot more than half of what 4000 chips (or a third of what 6000 chips, etc.) are worth. In some of these tournaments, you're given the option of buying extra chips (an "add-on") to the level of the rebuy amount when the rebuy period is over. If you have very few chips, the same logic means that it's right to add-on, but at the other extreme, it's clearly wrong to add-on if you're a huge chip leader (22,000 chips are not worth much more than 20,000). Where is the cut-off? Does anybody have a rule of thumb for when it's worth buying the add-on?

Re: Add-ons This is a difficult one to judge I agree slapdash, it depends on what your stack size is compared to what the average stack is of the tournament I guess. There was a very good article with a mathematical calculation written on pokerpages a few months ago about this...I will try and look it up later. Jez
