310 Taunton: Barrakilla 9/4 Skybet/Laddies

Best race of the card at Taunton and a couple of promising chasers taking on each other. The Pipes have Balgarry who was dead on his feet after the last at Newbury last time and ended up 4th in the end to Arzal in a fair race. He will be much better suited by this track/ground but i'm just siding with Barrakilla on this occasion.

Evan Williams takes his lightly raced 8yo (only had 11 starts) down to Taunton to get the decent ground and the tip is worth taking note of. He was second in the Caspian Gold Cup last season off this mark and then finished down the field at the Festival behind The Druids Nephew. This is much easier and if he's fit he should win.

7.10 - Chelmsford - Gladsome - 12/1 - BetFred BOG

Last race of the day - sorry BH!! Gladsome is still a maiden after 27 starts however has recently been showing signs of opening her account at this track. Was a very close 2nd two starts ago when beaten 3/4 of a length in a Class 6 in August - was put up 6lbs for that and she seemed to suffer as a result as was then last of 8 on her last appearance off a mark of 51. Back down to a mark of 48 now and also drops into a Class 7 for the first time. Luke Morris has been in the saddle on her last 3 starts and take the ride again here today.

Warw 2.00 - Minella Charmer - ew at 14/1 bog bet365

Maiden hurdle over 21F

Mainly staying types here from the Irish points scene

As often happens with these kind of races there's generally only a couple that are fancied in the betting and as a result they tend to be too short. The short priced favourite might be good but he's making his hurdles and seasonal debut. The second favourite comes from the Henderson yard and finished 2nd in a novice hurdle last time but the winner has been beaten since and the form might not be great.

My runner comes from the King yard and finished midfield on his hurdles debut. He was outpaced over the minimum trip on good ground at a sharp track.........today's conditions should suit him better and could well be in the shake up if he comes on for that run

grrrr..........odds shortened as I typed.......how annoying is that !

6.10 Chelmsford

Impossibly to oppose Air Of York in this in his current form, the handicapper is finding it impossible to catch up with him currently and he is 7lb ahead of the handicap currently. He is a typical tough Evans running taking a lot of runs in style. Slight concern the drop back to 5f and with several other front runners in the field but just as comfortable tracking the pace, won in really good style latest when not getting the clearest run through but still pulled well clear of another well backed runner. Last run around here was a win over 5f so should cope and somehow runs off same mark as last time!

1pt win Air Of York 5/2 betfred
