All odds checked since 01:06 GMT It's a tough draw to pick a winner from really. A lot of the seeds will have very capable and in form qualifiers in their 1st matches so finding one with confidence isn't easy. There is one player who's form stands out though and even though he's a short price I'm happy to invest in him. I'll also go for a couple of speculative quarter bets too. 3pts ew D.Junhui to win Northern Ireland Trophy 7/1 Bet365 (1/4 1,2,3,4) Ding Junhui comes into this tournament as the defending champion and he's been in scintillating form recently, particularly in the Premier League where his snooker has almost been flawless. He's hitting centuries for fun in the Premier League but there is always the problem of raising his game against the lesser players in the ranking events, particularly early in the tournaments. I don't expect that to be so much of a factor in this tournament though because the added incentive of defending his title is there. On his day he can beat them all and with the form he's showing in the Premier League I expect a good run from him here. He's got a pretty smooth passage to the semis which would land us the ew payout and therefore Ding gets my outright attention in Belfast. 1pt P.Ebdon to win 2nd Quarter 9/2 Ladbrokes Peter Ebdon is a player of real quality when he gets going as he showed at the UK Championships last year when he took the crown. He isn't particularly well suited to these best of 9 frame events but at thr Grand Prix there were signs that his game is in good shape and that he's suddenly getting used to the best of 9 clashes. In fact his game was so good in Aberdeen that he was frustrated he missed the final pink on a 147 attempt. On his day he can score as heavily as they come but that is overlooked by the people who want to bang on about his slow play. Ebdon's Grand Prix tilt was ended by Shaun murphy in the quarter finals in Aberdeen and the same opponent could face him in the QF's here but at 9/2 Ebdon represents good value to win the quarter and is worthy of a small interest. 1pt G.Greene to win 3rd Quarter 14/1 Ladbrokes Gerard Greene is one of the hometown heroes in this event and he comes into this event in very good form indeed. He made the semi finals of the recent Grand Prix - his 1st ever ranking semi final and on his day can beat anybody. He played well in the Grand Prix, not just winning matches but on occasions thrashing opponents too. His confidence could not possibly be higher and with the seeds in this quarter being incredibly vulnerable at a double figured price, Gerard Greene is worth a small stake.

Re: Snooker: Northern Ireland Trophy Ok, 1st match bet of the tournament on Monday. 10pts T.Ford to beat M.Holt 11/10 Boylesports Tom Ford would probably consider himself favourite to win this match and I don't think he'd be wrong. In the recent Grand Prix, he was unlucky to go out in the group stages. He won 2 and lost 3 of his 5 matches but his 3 losses were all 4-3, one of which was to O'Sullivan. He also came off his sick bed to hit a 147 in that tournament so Ford is a guy who is playing well. Michael Holt can beat most players when he's on his game but he's a bit of a headcase and we can never be fully sure if he's on his game or not. He didn't do too well in the Grand Prix and I'd fully expect the Leicester man to come through here at a decent enough price.
