In his last four strokeplay events he hasn’t finished outside the top seven and I’m prepared to give him his weak showing in the Volvo Matchplay because he was clearly on a high after the Ryder Cup. Donaldson is hitting the ball as well as he ever has and the fact he was playing in Shanghai last week, and almost winning, is very much a bonus. He has that little extra length in case this course plays slightly longer but however it plays recent form suggests the Welshman will be right in the mix come Sunday.
