Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 1st & 2nd heats Saw on cardplayer that hellmuth turned up 4 hours late for this again! What does he expect to gain from this, he has being doing it as long as I can remember. Surely his opponents have given up feeling intimidated by this antic. Don't get me wrong I actual don't mind Phil i think he is quite entertaining. Quite funny to see the Bill Fillmaff thing reconstruction of this.

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 1st & 2nd heats Good stuff winty cheers for posting that. This would be an amazing tournament to enter, after the WSOP main event it has the most "kudos" in winning, guaranteed fame and fortune basically...and look at that field! Possibly the toughest one I can remember seeing for 300 odd players. My mate was over this week at the bellagio, he won a super sat into the 5,000 NL hold em event. His starting table had paul philips and carlos mortenson at it :lol. By his own admission he got his ass completely kicked (busted on the first day) and he is a decent player, having made a 10,000 buy in pot limit omaha final table before. Its like playing on a different level - I will definately play sats for these events on the net a bit more often from now on, to play in one will be a fantastic experience + a shot at the big time. Looking down that list there I have to say I hope greg raymer does well. He came across as a genuine guy when he won the WSOP last year - I have no time for a lot of the arseholes you see in poker. He also has a good game, a mathematical player at heart he still has a lot of gamble and bluff in him when needed. Thomas keller sitting at around 20th is an exceptional player as well who shows amazing ability and would be good to see him in a WPT final. Just noticed Prahlad Friedman is at 41st...for those of you who dont know this guy has been probably the best internet cash game player of the last few years. He started out as being called "prefontaine" on stars but really made a name for himself on ultimate bet as "SpiritRock". His style is hyper aggressive, putting HUGE overbets in all the time. He can have the nuts, a drawing hand or indeed nothing at all when he does this but it puts the fear of god in his opponents - they have to call bets for tens of thousands of dollars with weak hands as they know he could well be bluffing but regularly find themselves paying off the nuts. Those with no bottle against him just find themselves being bled dry as he tests their strength to the max every hand. He plays on prima as "zweig" (rumour - but 95% sure this is true from watching him and his chat on there) and is now called mahatma on UB. I am guessing he is now trying to break into the big time live poker scene and it would be very interesting if he made a WPT final. Jez

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 3rd Day UPDATE Well a lot can change in these tournaments overnight, as you can see from the new table. Fan favourite Daniel Negreanu was eliminated early in the day after missing his straight draw and many other pros were eliminated in an action packed day. It's good to see a strong showing from the European players, especially some of the English players. Top UK pro Dave 'el blondie' Colclough is in 2nd after finishing the first day with just his 50,000 starting chips while Surinder Sunar is just above average chips in 48th and Peter Costa not too far behind in 85th. Two of the Hendon mobsters are also left in although I am not expecting much from either of them as the best mobster by a long way Ram Vaswani was eliminated in day one. It looks like it is going to be a great tournament with many top pros and young talented players left in. I would love to see 'el blondie' take down such a big tournament but I fancy a good showing from Max 'the italian pirate' Pescatori, Barry Greenstein and Micahel 'The Grinder' Mizrachi in the later stages.

According to updates there is some unknown called Phil Ivey;) with over a million in chips now, wonder if he is any good? Also up there is Michael Michzari(sp?) aka "The Grinder" who is having a hell of a year.

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 3rd Day UPDATE ....45 players left to return for day 4, noon Las Vegas time (I forget whether that means 7pm or 8pm GMT). Use this for live tournament updates for this event over at Cardplayer: http://www.cardplayer.com/tournament-log/?event_id=837 That Michael Mizrachi's a fooking demon but how would he do in the WSOP? I might ring Stan James and just ask for a quote (he isn't quoted in their WSOP odds).

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 3rd Day UPDATE

Date / Time:2005-04-21 14:39:00
Title:Phill Hellmuth Out
Log:Phil Hellmuth has been trying to play pots all day long in seat 4. The problem is Tuan Le has been raising almost every other hand in seat 3. Hellmuth finally had enough of Le's raises. Hellmuth exclaimed, "you're kidding me, what is going on here?" After again being frustrated by Le's raise, Hellmuth moved in his last $37,000. Le had raised to $22,000 before Hellmuth and was forced into calling the small re-raise. Le showed K-J with the Kd, and Hellmuth showed Ah-Kc. Hellmuth was in dominating position, until the flop came 10d-9d-2s. Le needed a Q, or a J to eliminate Hellmuth, and sure enough a Qd fell on the turn. Hellmuth then needed a J to make a higher straight than Le, but the 4d fell on the river and Le ended up with a flush to end Hellmuth's run. SO FUNNY! HAHA! :lol

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 3rd Day UPDATE Oh here's a goodie for updates and it's essentially a tournament blog from John Vorhaus (I'm in the middle of reading 'Killer Poker' at the moment as well). http://5starpoker.blogspot.com/ ....we're down to 27 btw and they're be playing until they get down to 18. Should have pointed out in the Pinnacle props that it's four match-ups of 'three on three' (I tried separating them out as best as I could). Joe Beevers is the sole survving Brit? "COME ON JOE!!" :clap

Ha-ha! Surviving players in bold type of the seventeen players left in Pinnacle's match-ups: * (-110) M. Mizrachi, C. Ferguson, A. Goehring * (+100) P. Ivey, D. Tomko, A. Boston * (-101) J. Helppi, J. Beevers, P. Costa * (-109) H. Habib, G. Raymer, D. Williams * (-115) I. Mercier, D. Sklansky, D. Wells * (+105) T. Ma, J. Shulman, D. Colclough * (-102) J. Smith, T. Le, A. Goehring * (-108) P. Ivey, M. Mizrachi, D. Williams If Phil Ivey gets to the final 6, I guess he could even be an odds-on favourite with Pinnacle (this is just an appetiser for the WSOP as I guess some bookies are willing to try and cash in by putting all sorts of props 'in-running' during the tournament). Have been reading the updates on Cardplayer throughout the night and wow, Tuan Le is a lucky bugger. Raising some of the time, facing all-ins from Phil Ivey and Chris Ferguson after the flops as he puts in huge bets and wisely stepping down as though they've called his bluff. ....he knocks out the final two players of the day with a pair of 9s with both of 'em going all-in and he flops a full house! 1. Phil Ivey - $3,880,000 2. Tuan Le - $3,730,000 3. Hasan Habib - $3,255,000 4. Rob Hollink - $1,600,000 5. Chris Ferguson - $1,411,000 6. Michael Mizrachi - $1,334,000 7. Joe Beevers - $1,160,000 8. Sammy Arzoin - $1,128,000 9. Joseph Cordi - $1,069,000 10. John Phan - $1,050,000 11. Jeff Shulman - $759,000 12. Paul Maxfield - $685,000 13. George Miller - $502,000 14. Juha Helppi - $493,000 15. Tony Ma - $287,000 16. David Sklansky - $205,000 17. Paul Testud - $80,000 You gotta say if Hasin Habib makes the final table, it's quite a feat and he'll have done so two years consecutively. "COME ON JOE, YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!" :clap

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE It is a great field of players still left in and I still think anybody could win it. Ivey has got to be a big favourite with his chip stack but some of these guys left in are tournament specialists and I still fancy 'The Grinder' and John Phan who has some nice results to give a good showing. I have never really thought much of Joe Beevers and his results are poor considering the amount of tournaments he enters (all sponsored). I think he will come up short against some of the far superior players that are left. Sounds like Hasan Habib could have had about $7 million if a few coinflips would have went his way!

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE It's close at the top there but Ivey has to be the favourite still. Thats a good last 18, of course it would be great to see joe beevers make the final TV 6 flying the flag for the brits but looking at that lot he is going to have to pull something special out of the hat to make it!

....he knocks out the final two players of the day with a pair of 9s with both of 'em going all-in and he flops a full house!
Yeah...from what I read one of the others had KK and he had 99? The flop came 9JJ - talk about a time to get jammy :dude
Sounds like Hasan Habib could have had about $7 million if a few coinflips would have went his way!
Yeah this is always the way in NL hold em tournaments when the blinds get large, whoever wins the coinflips gets all the chips - and if you dont win them you aint gonna win the tourney. Although from what I have read it seems with an average stack of 1.5mil the big blind was only 24k. This is an exceptionally smooth structure and there is absolutely no need to commit chips to a coinflip, it seems they are rewarding good play over luck in this tournament (although for a 25,000 buy in you would expect it I suppose!!) Will be following this with interest tonight, I cannot see past Ivey still. Jez P.S. As for the way helmuth went out - LOL I cannot wait to see the TV replay of that one during the summer

Going all-in with a pair of 6s? You crazy fool! Oh that is insane! Mizrachi was chip leader but he lost to Hasan Habib who was holding pocket queens and then Michael gets subsequently knocked out when his AJ loses to Rob Hollink's AQ. ....Michael Mizrachi finishes 11th. Still a phenomenal year so far for him. 4 more to go and tomorrow's the final table of six. :tongue2 1. Hasan Habib - $6,475,000 (seat 4) 2. Phil Ivey - $3,795,000 (seat 6) 3. Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE That is one hell of a horrible place to finish for him...Just on the bubble before worldwide fame and exposure. I cant imagine prima poker (his sponsers) would have been too happy either :o. I hear there is still a brit left in that final 6 which is good. Cant see past Ivey winning it tho without someone dealing him a bad beat (always possible to be fair). WPT will love the fact they have him in the TV final...a good loose aggressive player like him always makes good TV. From what I hear the grinder self exploded 3/4 of his chips in a battle of the blinds? He was the small blind and raised big with 66. The big blind then reraised all in. Grinder called (I dont like that call - he had enough chips and has enough playing skill not to commit to a situation where he was either a big dog or a coinflip - but to be fair he must have had his reasons as he is an excellent player) and the BB showed QQ. He went from 4m to 1m in that hand and was gone a few later. Jez

You're right Bloody hell! What the hell do I know?! Paul Maxfield is a STOKIE! maxfield-paul-02.jpg "COME ON PAUL!!" :welcome EDIT: I've put a speculative £50 on Hasan Habib to win it at 3/1 with Blue Square. If he's learned anything from last year's duel with Martin de Knijff is to try and not to bluff at the wrong time. I've rewatched the episode but Martin just seemed to coast on a huge chip stack because he was catching good enough cards to scare out the rest of the table. ....for me, Hasan hopefully will be that lucky. Everyone on the US poker forums seem to be rooting for Phil Ivey. "COME ON HASAN!" :hope

Going all in with a QTd? Now, I'm nowhere near what you call a quality cardplayer to be able to judge (no ****ing way am I) but Rob Hollink just did that with QTd. Tuan Le happens to be holding AcKd.... KABOOM!! Board comes 7h-3s-2s-Ah-3d. BLAMMO!! Rob's crippled to 330k and looks likely to be the first casualty soon. ....gonna be a long ol' night still, Phil's been quiet and Hasan's stack is up to 10 million and upwards (good). EDIT: Wow, Phil Ivey eliminated in SIXTH place! :eek Here's the hand that did it from Cardplayer: Hand 55: John Phan has the button in seat 5, and Hasan Habib raises it to $400,000 in early position, and Phil Ivey pushes all in for $535,000 more. Habib calls, showing the ubiquitous pocket queens, and Phil Ivey is again the underdog with Ac-Js. Deja vu. The flop is 6s-4s-3d, and Phil Ivey still needs help. The turn card is the 7d, and Phil Ivey needs to catch an ace to win or a five to chop the pot. The river card is the Kd, and Phil Ivey is eliminated in sixth place, earning $264,195. EDIT2: Rob Hollink eliminated in FIFTH place after the next hand! Hand 56: Rob Hollink has the button in seat 6, John Phan raises to $400,000, and Rob Hollink pushes all in for $1,635,000. Phan calls with pocket jacks, and Hollink is dominated with K-J offsuit. The flop comes Qh-9h-5d, and Hollink needs to catch a king (for a higher pair) or a ten (for a straight). The turn card is the 3c, offering no help. The river card is the ace of hearts, and Rob Hollink is eliminated in fifth place, earning $377,420.

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE John Phan eliminated in FOURTH place.....by Paul Maxfield! Hand 75: Tuan Le has the button in seat 4, and John Phan moves all in from the small blind. Paul Maxfield calls with A-5 offsuit, and Phan is caught bluffing with 8-3 offsuit. The flop comes A-Q-5, and Phan needs runner-runner to win the hand and eliminate Maxfield. The turn card is a 6, and Phan is drawing dead. (The meaningless river card is a jack.) Paul Maxfield doubles up in chips. John Phan is eliminated in fourth place, earning $518,920. ========== Oh, darn it....this is gonna be close. Hasan Habib - $11.0 million (seat 2) Tuan Le - $7.0 million (seat 4) Paul Maxfield - $4.5 million (seat 1) ....it's that Tuan Le I'm worrying about though. I expect Paul Maxfield to be on Midlands Today/Central News tomorrow though whatever happens! :D

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE Hand 108: Hasan Habib has the button in seat 2,and he calls the $300,000, Tuan Le limps, and Maxfield checks his option. The three players see a flop of 10c-9d-8h, and they all check. The turn card is the Qd, Tuan Le checks, Maxfield bets $300,000, and Habib raises it to $900,000. Tuan Le folds, and Maxfield calls. The river card is an interesting one -- the ace of diamonds, putting three diamonds on the board. Maxfield checks, and Habib bets $2 million. Maxfield thinks a while, says, "That's a big bet," and takes a drink from his bottle of water. Habib continues to cool off with his hand-held electric fan, looking like he doesn't have a care in the world. (He's looked that way all night.) Maxfield calls, showing a jack for the straight, and Habib mucks his cards. Paul Maxfield just took over as the chip leader. Oh crap. :wall

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE Hasan Habib must be on tilt. Hand 141: Hasan Habib has the button in seat 2, he raises it to $1 million, and Tuan Le pushes all in for $4.88 million. Habib calls with pocket sevens (7h-7s), and Tuan Le shows A-8 of spades. It's a race situation, and the flop comes Ks-10s-3d, and Tuan Le will double up with an ace, and eight, or any spade. The turn card is the 8s, and Tuan Le lets out a loud cheer as the crowd applauds. Habib is drawing dead, and the last card is the 8d. Tuan Le doubles up at the expense of Hasan Habib, and he becomes our new chip leader. BLUERGH!! :cry :puke EDIT: Hasin Habib KNOCKED OUT in THIRD place! Hand 143: Paul Maxfield has the button in seat 1, and Habib limps from the small blind, and Tuan Le raises it $500,000 more. Habib says, "All in," and Tuan Le calls with K-J offsuit. Habib has Q-8 of clubs, and he needs some help. The flop comes 9-7-2 with one club, and Hasan still needs help. The turn card is another 2, and Habib needs a queen or an eight to stay alive. The river card is the 3d, and Hasan Habib is eliminated in third place, earning $896,375. Oh at least I didn't go silly and make it £100 or more at 3/1....had fun while it lasted. :puke :puke :puke :spank "COME ON PAUL!! BEAT TUAN LE!! GRRR!!" :unsure :wall

Jesus Christ! Hand 168: Maxfield pushes all in, and Tuan Le calls with A-4 suited. Maxfield shows K-8. The flop comes 10-9-5 rainbow, and Tuan stays in the lead with his ace-high. Maxfield needs a king, an eight, or a runner-runner straight to stay alive. The turn card is a 7, and now Maxfield has an open-ended straight draw. He needs to catch a 6, 8, jack, or a king. The river card is -- a king! Paul Maxfield has just doubled up through Tuan Le. The battle goes on ... "COME ON PAUL!" :clap EDIT: D'oh! Tuan Le wins :eyes Two vital hands: Hand 187: Tuan Le raises it to $2 million, and Maxfield calls. The flop comes 6-5-3 with two hearts. Maxfield checks, Tuan Le pushes all in, and Maxfield calls. Maxfield shows 6-5 suited for two pair, and Tuan Le has 9-8 for a gut-shot straight draw. Tuan Le needs a seven, but he sees a 2 fall on the turn. He now needs a 7 or a 4 to stay alive, and the river card is a ... 7. Unbelievably, the tournament continues with another come-from-behind river card. Tuan Le was a huge underdog in this hand, but manages to double up and get right back into the game. ....and the last hand: Hand 190: Paul Maxfield pushes all in, and Tuan Le quickly calls, showing K-J suited. Maxfield turns over K-5 offsuit, and he's dominated. Unless Maxfield catches some help, Tuan Le will win this tournament. The flop comes J-10-3, and Tuan Le takes a commanding lead. Maxfield needs to catch something runner-runner (like 5-5) to stay alive. The turn card is a queen, and that means Maxfield is hoping for a chopped pot with a nine or an ace. Anything else will eliminate him from the tournament. The river card is a 7, and Paul Maxfield is eliminated in second place, earning $1,698,390. Well done Tuan but good Gawd, what my head wanted (Hasan to win) and what my heart wanted (local boy to do good) didn't happen. :o A bad way to start the week if you're me. :sad

Re: Bellagio $25,000 Championship Official chip count - 4th Day UPDATE LOL! Nah, I just copy-and-pasted from Cardplayer (I won't take credit for their work). Sleep? Jesus,....you should see the state of me now (if Hasan Habib was on mega-tilt then I am in a similarly foul and grumpy mood although for far much lesser stakes). I'm gonna get some sleep now before I go further doolally.
