Epsom Downs 4:00 - Investec Oaks(Group 1) (1) 1m4f 10yds I thought Ryan Moore gave Marvellous an outstanding ride in the Irish 1,000 Guineas recently where she beat Lightning Thunder by 3 lengths. She was completely outpaced early doors but stayed on powerfully down the outside of the track and the further she went the faster she got so clearly she will enjoy the trip. However, I think there is every chance that she could leave herself too much work to do and I don't think she can afford to give away as much ground as she did last time out or she will be punished. I am quite sweet on Volume here for the Cumani yard, I doubt we have seen anywhere near her full potential yet and she has a master in Richard Hughes aboard. She didn't seem to travel a yard and she is going to have to step up a lot on that form if she is to win here. However, she may well have needed the run that day and she did finish a neck second behind Winsili in a Group 1 at Goodwood last year. The Charles Hills trained Just The Judge is also an interesting contender in a wide open race and although she has been disappointing recently, she is the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner of last year. I am willing to risk an each-way bet on Amulet who looks an improver here, I was impressed with her attitude when beating Ribbons last time out.
