Flat Racing Monday 28th April

4.00 Bath Just the 8 to post currently but several of these are interesting. Cockney Class run 2 days ago at Wolves not beaten far, but that was only a 5 runner event and this is tougher just 2 days later, potentially well treated on very best but been well below that recently. Angus Glens isn’t fully exposed, and has been well backed on a number of occasions but has ultimately been disappointing. Continues to fall in the handicap but needs to show more. Yul Finegold made a good start to the season 3 weeks ago at Windsor in similar ground conditions having sat prominently, plenty of pace in this race so likely to sit behind it today. Up 2lb for that effort and remains a maiden. Dandy is one of the pace angles, unlikely to get an easy time of it and being ridden by an inexperienced jockey on first start of the season possibly other days for him on faster ground. Eco Warrior another front runner, won a 12f maiden on penultimate start before backing that effort up with a reasonable effort back in handicap again over 12f off a mark of 63, has to race off 67 today which clearly demands a lot more. Ivors Princess won’t want too much more rain but does have form on good to soft ground. She caught the eye over a mile 3 starts back staying on well on the polytrack, never really involved over 7f next time out but better again tried over todays trip 1m2f at Kempton. Ridden quite patiently too make sure she got the trip which she did staying on well again, 1lb rise fair with a slightly more positive ride and a race likely to be run to suit she could go well at a price under a jockey she clearly gets on well with. 2pt win Ivors Princess 15/2 VC 6.45 Southwell Safe to say this is a disappointing card even by Southwell standards with several small fields but this race has a bit of quality about it. Kung Hei Fat Choy goes well around here 3 wins from 11 starts, his latest win came at Wolves over 7f, will need to produce a career best effort under a 6lb penalty and has always struggled off marks in the 80’s. Ready built on his decent reappearance effort when only 2 lengths down latest staying on well running off same mark today although yet to try this surface and those tactics not the easiest to replicate around here and also in need of a career best effort to win off this mark. Ace Master is 5 from 18 around here, but yet another needing a career best effort. Realize won here last time out 2 weeks ago after a break, bounce factor slight concern but a 3lb rise looks very lenient and he remains unexposed not only on this surface but also overall given he is lightly raced. Hamoody is 2 from 2 around here but is easily passed over both those come in 3 and 4 runner claimers and ought to struggle in handicaps these days of this sort of mark. Greyfriarschorista might be the one to take in this field, finished in the placings all starts this winter around here except once in December, latest win came off 81 but ran very well last time out off 85 in a much stronger race 2l behind Frontier Fighter, he has the form in the book at listed level to be competitive off this sort of mark and his form looks more solid than most around here. 2pt win Greyfriarschorista 6/1 bet365 7.05 Windsor Not a huge amount of pace on here only one confirmed front runner and couple that like to sit prominently so may pay to be up with the pace at the very least. Top Diktat is in the form of his life, further 6lb rise for latest win obviously makes things tougher but cant be ignored in current vein, has had chances off marks in 80’s previously and was unable to win so a mark of 84 clearly demands a lot more. Does have form on soft conditions although recent form has come on polytrack and good ground will also want a decent pace to chase unlikely to get that. Hard to assess Santo Thomas no flat form in this country and just fair over hurdles, last win off a mark of 107 so flat mark of 87 might be a tad high but will handle soft conditions. Number One London became frustrating last year and remain a maiden to tread carefully with. Top Set just has the 3 maiden runs and a handicap mark of 74 may not prove beyond him in time but had lengthy lay off and yet to encounter this sort of ground. Starwatch was a good 3rd on seasonal reappearance last time out over 1mile around here in soft conditions, has always been stretched by this trip though. Handheld is the one for me, made a very pleasing return to the track at Doncaster on the Lincoln weekend with a solid 3rd on soft ground having got a fairly soft lead. I think the handicapper has been very kind to leave him unchanged the front 3 pulled well clear of the remainder and the winner has since placed off 7lb higher mark. For a 7yr old he remains lightly raced and clearly has more to offer in soft conditions especially if coming on from the race. 2pt win Handheld 4/1 bet365

Re: Flat Racing Monday 28th April Naas 7:25 He's Got Rhythm had two poor runs on the all-weather but now switching back to turf off a reasonable mark he has to be respected here. His last turf run was at Roscommon back in September where he finished 2nd to Captain Cullen off a mark of 83, and he runs off 82 tomorrow. The Marnane yard is in brilliant form, his last two runners have won and his last five runners haven't been out of the first three. At 16/1 here he looks a bit of value. He's Got Rhythm WIN @ 16/1 Paddy Power
