2.50 Ripon Current going officially good but rain expected nearly all night and tomorrow morning so would expect soft going at the very least. Captain Ramius is class on his day and loves soft ground, good reappearance effort in listed event before disappointing last time out. Has often been his way and never the easiest to predict and handicap mark is perhaps high enough in a race like this. Seeking Magic proved consistent last season winning twice once on good ground and the other on fast ground, up another 1lb since last seen and now 6lb above last winning mark career best needed. Hopes N Dreams won a handicap off a mark of 87 and then won a minor event on penultimate start before being caught outclassed in a listed event, this is obviously easier although may still be competitive enough record fresh is not bad. El Viento made a respectable return to the track couple weeks ago, should strip fitter and with the visor back on better expected, wouldn’t want soft ground though. Fast Shot won under this apprentice last time out, that was a career best effort so a further 5lb rise makes this look tough with softer conditions not ideal although can go in them. Colonel Mak won’t mind the softer conditions and should strip fitter now, on a very workable mark if improving for the run but would have liked to have seen more. Barkston Ash won over CD last time out, keeping on well 5lb rise fair although claimer doesn’t ride today so is effectively 8lb higher, up in class in a stronger race needs to find more. Hillbilly Boy has been in great form, 4lb higher for latest win at Doncaster this clearly demands a lot more up in class sharply. Doc Hay might be worth taking a chance with, a respectable effort on seasonal reappearance and should strip fitter for that. He is 1 from 1 around here over this CD of just a 1lb lower mark. At his best he won a Listed event and the more rain the better and should go well. 1pt e/w Doc Hay 9/1 hills 3.40 Leicester Breton Rock has the benefit of a run here and that was a good win in a minor event at Thirsk, remains lightly race and progressive and going to need to progress further to be winning a listed event. Will appreciate the rain. Hasopop has his quirks and although consistent on the all weather showed why he is so hard to win with these days. Clearly has plenty of ability but doesn’t always put his full effort in at times. Has plenty of form on softer conditions but a lot more needed on recent efforts. Professor is not fully exposed yet and ran ok fresh last year, last placed effort at Group 3 level last year is respectable form but it could go down as slightly disappointing. All form has been on fast ground and he may be best for another day. Eton Forever might be the one to beat. He is clearly one best caught fresh. He won a listed event at Haydock when fresh last year, that form later worked out well. He disappointed when next seen at Group 3 level but that was on fast conditions and he has always been seen to best effect on soft conditions if anywhere near his best he will be very hard to beat at this level. 2pt win Eton Forever 3/1 bet365 7.20 Wolverhampton Decent handicap given the problems the track has had recently. Caspian Prince is a speedy sort and made all at Epsom earlier in the week, just as effective on the polytack and even has a win around here. 6lb penalty obviously requires yet another career best but not fully exposed slight concern this is only 72hrs later and Epsom can take it out of a runner and also unlikely to get a soft lead here. Ubetterbegood is likely to get a race run to suit and will appreciate this return to polytrack however is proving hard to win with these days. Royal Bajan has never won off a mark this high and likely to be pushing the pace here. Sacrosantus was a no show in 3 starts last year and is another likely to be pushing the pace and can only be watched until showing more. Mappin Time has become a bit of a Southwell specialist and also has looked better over 6f recently and this 5f might be too sharp and gone up 4lb for latest 2nd. Muhdiq won on penultimate start around here, good effort at Windsor last time out. 4lb higher here today and is now 3 from 9 on AW and may have more to offer yet so not totally discounted for all this is a much better race. Rusty Rocket another front runner who went well at Nottingham last time out, no form on the AW and that the worry. Dangerous Age will get the race run to suit but is starting to prove costly to follow, bitterly disappointing effort last time out and been kept busy this winter and starting to look exposed off a mark 7lb above last winning mark. Top Boy might be worth sticking with, he was given a huge chance by the handicapper this spring winning off a mark of 73 over this CD. Ran a great race again on turf latest when 3rd off a mark of 80, further 2lb higher today but return to this track a positive having been 2 from 4 around here and may go a lot further on the polytrack. This race is likely to also be run to suit given his hold up style. 2pt win Top Boy 7/1 bet365 8.05 Doncaster Rosaceous won her 3rd maiden start but failed to go on from that and handicapper is slow to relent, although one standout effort was a 2nd in heavy ground so maybe the more rain the better. Al Manaal’s form has come on fast ground and hasn’t looked to be crying out for a step up in trip. Vanity Rules broke her maiden tag when last seen September on AW, turf form was on fast ground and looks easy to pass over with softer conditions predicted. Cosmic Halo remains 4lb above last seasons win and trip looks short enough, she remains extremely hard to predict aswell. Cosseted has to be respected as was a respectable 4th having to run from 5lb out of handicap when last seen at Newmarket, handicapper been very kind to not change her mark from that so racing back on proper mark could go well. Those runs were also on soft ground and over todays trip, only concern is yard struggling to get a winner off the mark at present. Trixie Malone won last time out 3 weeks ago over 7f in soft conditions at Newcastle, proven over todays trip aswell. 5lb rise in the weights makes things tougher but still unexposed and could have more to offer. The other that remains unexposed and could have plenty more to offer is Burnt Fingers and she looks the value at her current price of around 8/1. She bolted up at Kempton over todays trip on handicap debut under Atzeni. 6lb rise for that and this much stronger but she may be up to it. Her turf form has come with some cut in the ground so that shouldn’t be a concern neither. 2pt win Burnt Fingers 8/1 bet365

Flat Racing > Saturday April 26th Haydock 2:20 - £25 Free Bet at Corbettsports.com Handicap(2) 7f Richard Fahey has a huge fleet of horses at the moment and Ryan Moore is booked to ride Sir Reginald which could be a significant jockey booking. He is going to be at his very best to get this horse up though as he is a quirky sort that has to come from off the pace and he will need a clear passage and a late darting run to get up. Also off a mark of 93 it will be fairly tough for him but he won't be far away. Glen Moss created a very favourable impression when finishing 2nd at Kempton last week and has to be respected off the same mark. I think Balty Boys is more than capable of going very close in this race for an in-form trainer and the 20/1 is value to me.
