Ayr 3:50 - Coral Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase(Grade 3) (1) 4m 110yds The current favourite for this minefield is the two time course winner Green Flag who is trained by Lucinda Russell. He finished 4th to Holywell over 3m1f at Cheltenham but that is the furthest the horse have ever ran so taking a short price about an unproven stayer is risky. There has been a lot of talk about the Harry Fry trained Mendip Express this week and if potential is anything to go by, he could well turn out to be better than a 147 rated horse. He hosed up by 5 lengths on heavy ground over 3m3f at Cheltenham in January and you would think he will stay this far judged on that run. He won by 17 lengths at Naas two runs back which was very impressive but he was a well beat 2nd to Aupcharlie last time out at Clonmel and would have to improve to figure. Lucinda Russell absolutely loves it around here at Ayr so I wouldn't be too quick to rule out Reaping The Reward even though on the forum line he seems to have little chance. I have had a small investment on Aibrean here, the stable looked like they were going to nail a big priced winner at Ayr today with Mister Nibbles but he fell and they could make amends here.
