5:15 Pontefract - Mash Potato - 1pt win 8/1 Bet365 Think Mash Potato still has room for improvement as a 4 year old this season, especially on softer ground and on staying tracks. Won on his reappearance last season and hopefully a mark of 71 won't be out of reach tomorrow considering he beat horses rated 73-74 at Newcastle last season.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th March Pontefract 3:10 Competitive handicap here and the one that looks far too big a price is New Bidder at around the 22/1 mark. This horse seems to run well fresh, he had a 3 month break between May and August last year and he ran here at Pontefract after his break and won in good style. He was then given a mark of 79 for his handicap debut at Ripon and he finished a creditable 3rd behind Khalice who also runs here. He ran really well for a long way in a good York handicap off a mark of 81 (traded at 2.24 in-running) but the 7f stretched him a bit and he faded so the step back to 6f here is ideal. When last seen he ran here at Pontefract over 6f off a mark of 81 and although he was 7th he was not beaten all that far so dropping 2 pounds in the weights and coming here fresh should give him a decent shot tomorrow.
