2.40 Wolverhampton Tight looking handicap. Intrepid has been well beaten since winning a maiden, starts out for a new yard dropping back to 6f best watched. Bogsnog has dropped back to his last winning mark, looks better over slightly further and isn’t the most reliable at times so probably best watched off the back of a short break again. Go Far won over CD on penultimate start before trying to back that up 24hrs late at Kempton under penalty only to be beaten by the impressive Spellmaker, yet to score off a mark this high but clearly thriving at present. Point North turned in one of his better efforts last time out over CD, he has become increasingly unreliable and isn’t the obvious sort to back that effort up this time around especially after nearly 50 days off and a 3lb rise and remains 5lb above last winning mark and couldn’t have at a short price. Invigilator is frustrating and needs things to fall right, also requires a strong pace and not guaranteed that in this field with. Good effort last time out but a 4lb rise also makes things tougher having never won off a mark this high. I was lucky enough to be at Southwell when Loud won last week, he looked amazing in the parade ring and was duly heavily backed and wasn’t hard to see why. Clearly came on from his comeback run and possibly also suited to the deeper surface, Wolves hard to weigh up at present but clearly riding slower with kickback and he faced that at Southwell so should be ok. Could easily be able to overcome 6lb penalty, lightly raced clearly progressing only slight worry would be the drop in trip which might see him take a front running role. 2pt win Loud 7/2 VC 5.55 Kempton Pearl Ransom was possibly sold quite cheaply since his last run when winning by a neck over this trip at Lingfield, 4lb rise fair and claimer takes off 7lb roday so certainly not handicapped out of things and chance if building on that for new yard. Divine Rule won this race last year and running respectably recently but remains perhaps a couple lb to high in the handicap at present. Bennelong finally took advantage of a huge drop in the ratings, 8lb rise in the weights makes things tougher but still well handicapped on very best form and clearly thriving. Up Tipp was a huge disappointment last time out in maiden and needs to bounce back but Hughes booked and some money around for him this morning interesting. Fire King won a CD class 7 event last time out, a 4lb rise pushes him back up in class and always been far better on turf so not obvious one to follow up. Addikt typically was well backed on penultimate start to win over 1m2f, doesn’t matter what yard he is with he is used to land gambles. Typically back in his shell last time out and drop in trip unlikely to help today. Wyndham Wave might offer a bit of value in a tough handicap. He isn’t straightforward but he was well backed on return to action over CD last week, didn’t show much but dropped a further 2lb and is now 2lb lower than last win and good record over this CD he should be thereabouts if coming on for that run latest. 1pt e/w Wyndham Wave 11/1 VC 7.25 Kempton Basingstoke won twice at Southwell this winter before disappointing for new yard on latest start back at Southwell so risky. Fanoos showed a useful level of form on return to action but not so good at Lingfield latest and needs to bounce back. Strong Man won last time out but has never won off a mark this high. Ocean Legend looks worth a chance returned to this CD. He is a real course specialist having won 8 times from 29 starts over this CD. Last win in handicap came off a 3lb higher mark and had been running well enough in sellers and claimers to suggest he remains in form, little below best at Dundalk but easily excused given his record away from here. 2pt win Ocean Legend 7/2 pp
