Re: Conditional Jockeys' Hurdle > 5:05pm Saturday April 5th Aintree 5:10 - This is a wide open contest for the conditional and amateur riders that is normally run at a furious pace so it should be a great watch. I am very interested in the John Quinn trained Scots Gaelic who looks a big price at 20/1 with Paddy Power. This 7 year old gelding won well last time out in a handicap hurdle at Towcester where he beat Helium by 4 lengths. He has gone up 6 pounds in the weights for that victory but Dean Pratt takes off 7 pounds in the saddle so effectively he runs here off a 1 pound lower mark. This is obviously a much tougher contest he is running in but he ran a really good race on his only run at Aintree before when he was 4th to Crowning Jewel in a Class 2 off a 1 pound lower mark. Stuart Crawford is having a terrific season and if you ignore Strongpoint's last run you would make him a lot shorter than a 20/1 shot with Paddy Power to land this contest. The 10 year old could never land a blow in the County Hurdle a few weeks ago but he must have a much better chance in this race if all goes to plan. He won a Class 3 handicap at Musselburgh by 17 lengths last December off a mark of 120 and followed up at Musselburgh off a mark of 130 beating Ifandbutwhynot by 4 lengths in a very competitive race. If he brings that sort of form here tomorrow he will certainly be involved at the finish and he has been dropped 3 pounds in the weights for his run at Cheltenham which helps matters. Katgary was an unlucky loser in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham a few weeks ago where he got shuffled back a few places two from home. He then powered home to only lose by half a length but if he was not hampered he would have won the race with a bit to spare. He was bought for €160,000 so obviously they think quite a lot of him and Graham Wylie had a winner in Boston Bob already today so he is having a good week. The Nicky Henderson stable is on fire at the moment after getting three wins on the board today and his gelding Nesterenko has to be respected here in the hands of the talented Nico De Boinville. I have had two small each-way investments on the two horse I mentioned earlier. Strongpoint - 1 Point each-way @ 20/1 Paddy Power Scots Gaelic - 1 Point each-way @ 20/1 Paddy Power
