Re: Mares Open Flat Race > 5:25pm Friday April 4th Aintree 5:25 - This is an ultra competitive mares flat race, a complete minefield from a betting point of view but one horse than stands out as value to me is Lady Buttons from the Philip Kirby yard. This filly won her debut at Wetherby back in December with the second horse well clear of the remainder. She was then put into a tough Listed race going off a fairly fancied 6/1 shot but she never landed a blow at Cheltenham that day, no doubt a much better run was expected though. She bolted up in a 3 runner race at Wetherby last time out over this trip of 2m1f and although she didn't beat much, the manner of the victory was very impressive. She looks a big price at 10/1 here with Bet365. If this race turns into a proper battle at the finish there is likely to be only one winner and that is the extremely tough and game Tara Mist of the Henry Daly yard. She showed plenty of ability on debut when she won at Ludlow by 3 lengths and she ran into a decent Harry Fry horse next time out at Huntingdon. I thought she ran a belter against what looks like a very good John Queally horse at Sandown last time out in Listed company with her being well clear of the remainder and she won't be far away tomorrow at 7/1 with Paddy Power. Richard Johnson has a very good record in these flat races and he is a good jockey to have on board so the horse is in safe hands. Alan Swinbank has acquired Tony McCoy to ride Molly Cat here which is an interesting booking. This filly won by 10 lengths at Wetherby on heavy ground on debut and then ran a good race when 2nd to a Nicky Henderson horse at Kempton so she is open to more improvement. The Govaness is another very interesting horse here, the Fergal O'Brien trained showed plenty of staying power when landing a Listed flat race at Cheltenham last time out at 28/1. Paddy Brennan is in the saddle tomorrow and he will be on a high after his win at Aintree yesterday. It is very hard to pick the winner of this race but I have placed a small bet on Lady Buttons who looks a very progressive horse. Lady Buttons - 1 Point WIN @ 10/1 Bet365 - Also Get a £200 Free Bet!
