Re: Manifesto Novices' Chase > 4:50pm Thursday April 3rd Aintree 4:50 Thursday - This is going to be a brilliant spectacle as we have five horses that all have a chance of landing the share of this £90,000 prize. I backed Western Warhorse at 50/1 for the Arkle and even though he won the race, I was shocked at how impressive he looked. The David Pipe 6 year old gelding is proven over this trip of 2m4f also so he has everything to suit yet again. He is currently an 11/4 chance with Paddy Power which is a fair price in my opinion but I'm not sure if that Arkle run was a one off or not. Oscar Whisky heads the betting at 9/4 with Betfred and although he loves it here at Aintree, he is a much better hurdler in my opinion and he does make a few errors with his jumping. The horse I think is the value in the race is the horse that finished 4th behind Western Warhorse in the Arkle, Dodging Bullets. He looked mighty impressive when he beat Raya Star by 5 lengths at Cheltenham back in November and he then beat Grandouet by 10 lengths at Kempton soon after. He had plenty left in the tank that day after 2 miles so although he is unproven over the trip, I am of the opinion he will get it. I also am of the opinion that he is more suited to a flat track and Aintree is as flat as a pancake so I think we will see a better run than the Arkle run, even though it wasn't a bad run. The 11/2 on offer with Betfred looks a big price in such a small field and I will have a bet accordingly. Uxizandre ran a cracking race behind Taquin Du Seuil in the JLT at Cheltenham a few weeks ago and a repeat run would have to have him in the mix here especially with Tony McCoy aboard. I am not sure if he possesses the same sort of class as a couple of these but he is here on merit and has to be respected. The Emma Lavelle trained Fox Appeal has been running over further than this and he might not have the acceleration required to win. Oscar Whisky is a better hurdler than a chaser so is risky and Western Warhorse is the only horse I am really afraid of here. If he reproduces his Arkle run he should win but I think the value in the race is the Paul Nicholls trained Dodging Bullets.
