Doncaster 3:30 - William Hill Grimthorpe Chase(HANDICAP) (2) 3m2f Paul Carberry comes over from Ireland to ride Monbeg Dude for the Michael Scudamore yard and for all he is a great staying type, he has been known to make bad jumping errors and I am not so sure he will get away with that around here. The Paul Nicholls trained Harry The Viking ran a good race when 3rd behind Golden Call last time out but he has plenty of work to do if he is to reverse the form in my opinion. My selection for this race is going to be Golden Call who won very cosily over 3 miles here at Doncaster last time out doing his best work late on so the extra distance should suit. The Candlish yard are in very good form the last while and at 7/1 he looks worthy of a bet. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday March 1st Newbury 3:50 - Stanjames.com Supporting Greatwood Gold Cup Handicap Chase(Grade 3) (1) 2m4f The Tom George yard have been doing well of late and his gelding Majala can't be ruled out here after an eye-catching 5th at Warwick last time out. He travelled very well for a long way and the jockey did not seem to be too harsh on him after a couple of sloppy jumps but if you look at some of his form it is tied in with Sire De Grugy. Paul Nicholls has won this race in five of the last six years so on that basis alone you really cannot discount his runners. I like the chances of Ulck Du Lin who is back down to a very nice weight and has the highly talented Noel Fehily on board. He is out of sorts the past while but he is the only course winner in the field and the tongue-tie may spark a revival.
