3.35 Newbury – Chris Pea Green 0.5pt EW @ 25/1 William Hill The horse I like in this is the Gary Moore trained Chris Pea Green. He has been ultra consistent since making a winning debut at Huntingdon back in 2012 finishing placed in 6 of his 9 races. I think excuses can be made for a couple of those efforts with one coming on the all weather and the other coming on good ground. His effort at Cheltenham last year to finish 7th behind Our Connor certainly wasn’t a bad one. I think the key to this horse is testing ground, which he will get tomorrow should racing go ahead. He has already proven himself in this type of race when finishing 4th in the Ladbroke back in December. The form of that race has worked out really well with plenty of those that finished behind Chris Pea Green coming out and running well next time out. He did well to finish 4th in the Ladbroke as he did make a few jumping errors but I think a return to a less testing track may help his cause. If he can brush up on his jumping then I think he can get involved. He has raced off this mark of 142 in his last 2 races and has run well on both occasions. I think the heavy ground will also help him and it certainly won’t be to everyone’s liking. Gary Moore has a good recent record in this race, winning it in consecutive years in 2007 and 2008 but his runners do always tend to run well in this race. This race has tended to go to classier types in recent years and Chris Pea Green is one of the highest rated horses in the line-up. He fits plenty of the trends and I am hopeful of a decent run.

Re: BBOTD SATURDAY 8th Newbury 2:25 - Betfair Denman Chase (Grade 2) It is all about price for me and I am more than happy to back Walkon to land this race at around the 10/1 mark which looks overpriced in a five runner field. We know he loves the ground and although there are question marks over the trip, he looks a far more appealing price than Al Ferof who also has stamina doubts. Katenko is likely to go well as he has everything in his favour and the Venetia Williams yard are in top form.
