He runs off a mark of 74 tomorrow but was placed off marks of 77 last season so is well treated. Callum Whillans takes off another 5 pounds and on heavy ground that can be vital. He has only won once from 32 runs but that win came on heavy ground. His form on this ground reads 5-4-1-2-2-7-2-2 which bodes well in my opinion and he is well worth a bet at the price for me. There are a couple of Irish runners due to take part, one of which has already ran in a maiden hurdle at the track, but I believe the main two in contention are Lucinda Russell's, Final Assault, and Nick Alexander's (no relation), The Orange Rogue. The former will be going over hurdles for the fourth time and has shown some promise but it is Alexander's 7yo that interests me the most. He previously ran in a 4 runner novice hurdle at Ayr and was 2L from the 1/10 winning favourite, which was his first time over hurdles. Despite the small field, the race was ran at a good pace and was completed very much quicker than previous Ayr maiden hurdle races that were ran on heavy ground, which could indicate the ability that The Orange Rogue has.
