Flat Racing Tuesday 10th December

12.30 Southwell An interesting handicap if not classy! High On A Hill comes here in good form having won last time out, drop back in trip possibly not ideal although this slower surface may help offset some of that. 6lb penalty makes life harder but has form off much higher marks but one run on this surface didn’t look to cope with it! Tobrata has an awful strike rate and only win has come on this surface and has looked to stay this trip on latest starts and easy enough to swerve. Diamond Pro is an interesting runner for a yard that has several runners on this surface. He last won on the flat in Ireland in August not seen since then until 6 days ago when he started out for a new yard over hurdles and showed nothing to suggest he is in much form and is best watched on this fibresand debut. Hazariban is another interesting Irish horse who is also making fibresand debut on the back of a disappointing hurdle run recently and probably best watched on that basis. Rock Of Ages does have form on this surface on handicap debut back in June 4 starts ago he finished a runner up over CD off a mark of 53, didn’t show much next 2 starts but much better effort last time out at Kempton back over this trip so should go well for all that form doesn’t look the strongest. Miss Ella Jade also has form on this surface and shapes as if she would benefit from a step up in trip but she is frustrating and hard to have faith in at present. Neighbourhood should prove very hard to beat back around this CD, he is 3 from 2 over CD and 3 from 6 around here, only 4lb above last impressive win over CD when last seen here and should be well handicapped on that form back here. 2pt win Neighbourhood 5/2 bet365 2.30 Southwell Hussar Ballad won so impressively last time out over those course on first try, but drops back quite dramatically in trip and that is a major concern in a much stronger race. Andiamo Via has a good record here 2 from 6, but has largely struggled since last win last June but has dropped to 3lb below last winning mark but would like to have seen more. No win no fee is modest at best on what he has shown so far and yet to try this surface so best watched against proven fibresand performers. Xpres Maite looks to be declining rapidly with age and was a no show last time out over this course and not sure drop back in trip ideal. Frosty Friday finally got off the mark last time out over CD but she was fresh and first time visor so that needs to work again and doesn’t look the sort to follow given she has had 9 tries on this surface. Fast On remains a maiden but much better effort last time out on fibresand debut over 7f, needs to back that up but if doing so could be dangerous stepped up in trip. General Tufto is another that has been in rapidly decline with age over this past year or so, but found some sort of form last time out at Wolves 3 days ago nothing to get excited about but that was on the back of a decent break so may come on for run if this isn’t too soon and we all know he does go well here with 10 wins from 62 around here! Mataajir might be the one worth risking in a race with plenty of question marks. He hadn’t been in much form over the summer months but better efforts last twice and if continueing in the right direction he would be dangerous around here off a very lenient mark now 1lb below last winning mark and 3 from 8 around here. 2pt win Mataajir 13/2 PP

Re: Flat Racing Tuesday 10th December Southwell 2:00 Hopefully I have found a bit of value in the most competitive contest of the day in the Alan McCabe trained Bedloe's Island. I always look out for a new starter for this yard, they have pulled off many a gamble with new recruits to the yard in the past. Martin Harley is 4/10 for this trainer at Southwell and a 40% strike-rate is not to be sniffed at. The slight worry for the horse is he is having his fibresand debut tomorrow and I do not know how he will take to the surface but he is off a decent mark if he handles it. He is a very decent horse when he is on a going day and hopefully the yard have him fresh for tomorrow, if they do he is no 25/1 shot. Bedloes Island WIN @ 25/1 Boylesports
