Flat Racing - Wednesday October 16th

Recommended Posts

Lingfield 4:05 - Neville Childhood Epilepsy Centre Handicap (2) John Gosden has two horses into this race and it is interesting that William Buick has decided to go for Space Ship over Nauticus. This horse won a nice maiden at Chester back in May in good fashion. The colt then went on and ran a cracker in a big handicap at Royal Ascot, finishing 2nd to Elidor. He ran poor when last seen at Newmarket but has had a nice break, so he should be fit and ready to run off a nice mark of 94. Space Ship WIN @ 6/1 Paddy Power

Re: Flat Racing - Wednesday October 16th 4.40 Lingfield Interesting staying handicap. Superciliary narrowly got off the mark over this trip at Kempton recently and backed that effort up with a decent run over hurdles, the 2nd from the flat race has also franked the form with a win next time out off a 1lb lower mark. 5lb higher mark makes things tougher again and has always struggled off similar marks in past. It’s a Girl Thing has shown very little apart from a 3rd on reappearance couple runs back but shown nothing next 2 starts though. Bondi Mist has gone well off the boil last 2 starts tailed off. Grandiloquent has been well backed but hard to see why looked pretty limited lately and doesn’t shape as if a step up in trip is the likely answer. Bold Citizen has shown very little in 3 maidens but is a well bred horse and may have more to offer over this trip. Aiyana hasn’t always been the most consistent in limited starts, better effort last time out on turf but hasn’t always looked at home on the polytrack. Moore is a strong booking but does need to back that effort up now and pedigree isn’t bottomless on stamina. Cabuchon looks the value option in this race. He stayed on really well over 1m5f at Bath under this jockey. A 4lb rise looks very lenient and looks likely to be suited to the step up intrip and looks worth a chance from a good draw. 2pt win Cabuchon 13/2 SJ 5.40 Kempton Pharoh Jake is largely consistent on the polytrack but he hasn’t won off a mark this high and he looks about right at present and also has an awkward draw. Imperial Spirit was a winner off a 7lb lower mark and backed that effort up last time out off a 2lb lower mark, 1 win from 27 is poor but should be thereabouts. Burnt Cream looks high enough in the weights again for now but does go well on the polytrack. Coconut Kisses has the assistance of Hughes tonight and has dropped in the weights and starting to look well treated. Only wins have come in seller and maiden and needs to bounce back from a stinking effort last time out. Sarah Berry is hard to win with these days and remains one to avoid. Met Chief won a class 7 handicap over CD 4lb higher tonight but clearly returned in good heart but never one to totally trust. Volcanic Dust was only just run down by Met Chief last time out in the class 7 handicap he is 1lb better off with him tonight but is 3lb higher, she remains very well handicapped and has strung several good efforts together now and looks sure to run a strong race at a decent price. 1pt e/w Volcanic Dust 10/1 betfred
