Flat racing - Mon 26th August

Amateur Derby taking place at Epsom today (4:15) and none of the riders have much experience at the track (a few of the gents have ridden there twice in the last two years, probably this race), but there are two stand out jockeys in the field and they are Simon Walker and Patrick Mullins. Mullins is on Beacon Lady, who has been very consisitent of late, but Walker's ride, Azrag, won a few days ago. Neither runner has been at Epsom previously but Azrag has a very good record on left handed tracks, although Beacon Lady is not far off. I could go on with a few other comparisons but they lean in favour of Azrag, who is available at a better price than Beacon Lady's 11/4. Azrag 9/2 Betvictor

Re: Flat racing - Mon 26th August Ripon 3:35 Richard Hannon's 2yo, Legend Rising, has more of a chance than his price suggests, I feel. The youngster has won 2 out of 2 on good to soft and his sire also has impressive going stats. The trainer's only sent three horses here over the past year, none have won but today's prize seems achievable for his 2yo who is proven on this ground. 11/1 Betvictor
