What are home poker games?

Re: What are home poker games? Hi ClaryWhite, Whilst poker & the wider gaming/gambling can be addictive, the vast majority of players are not addicted. Poker requires a clear, methodical & realistic mindset and all sensible poker players take regular breaks from poker either during a down swing (run of bad luck) or to catch up on other hobbies, family & friends. It is important that a player recognises the difference between gaming & real life and has a sensible balance between the two. If a player is at all concerned they should either contact their local medical centre or addiction clinic. In the UK here we have GamCare, an organisation which advises & helps players who think they may be becoming addicted. It helps to ensure that everyone plays responsibly, not sure what the equivalent would be in the U.S. but I'm sure you can find it quickly via a web search. All trustworthy gaming sites usually have a link to it somewhere on their websites. In terms of Poker Home Games, these are as the name suggests a poker game played at home usually with friends, family or work colleagues. It's a fun social night where you all meet up, play a bit of poker, have a laugh, drink beer & eat pizza. At least when I used to play with my work colleagues pizza was always on the menu ;) and sometimes the banter was so good we didn't actually play much poker. Good to see you getting involved in the forum, if we can help with anything don't hesitate to shout! Best regards, Bart

Re: What are home poker games? Just a quick addition, it's important that you check the legal situation in your own native country before setting up a home game. A home game is usually a private social tournament between friends all of legal age held in a private home. There can often be legal restrictions on public events, money changing hands, cash games etc and a licence maybe required with conditions needing to be met. Worth checking your own state laws before setting one up :ok
