3.10 Southwell A lot of regular fibresand specialists here but one is above all these in my opinion. Caldercruix is 2 from 3 here and was last seen winning around here over 7f, step up in trip shouldn’t be a problem and 5lb rise is ok but up 2 grades in a much stronger race now. Dr Red Eye has shown very little in 2 starts since making a comeback from break, does have form on this surface but this mark still looks high enough. The Lock Master is similar has a very strong fibresand record but never won off a mark this high and has been well held in 2 starts since last win. Docofthebay isn’t easy to get in front these days but did manage to n penultimate start, up 4lb for that effort and ran a respectable race in a listed event next time out, has the ability but not always convinced he quite puts it all in these days but chances if repeating last 2 efforts. Frontier Fighter is still unexposed and could improve further having scored well last time out under a penalty after winning here on this surface over CD, returns here 14lb higher and 8lb higher for last win so will need to improve again but clearly has the scope. Dubai Hills is a Southwell specialist through and through he is potentially listed or group class on this surface. He destroyed a reasonable field of fibresand specialists, up 10lb for that effort now off 92 has placed on turf on similar marks and looks more than capable of taking a decent prize off this sort of mark on this surface perhaps his last chance to get to race here. 3pt win Dubai Hills 7/4 bet365 3.45 Southwell This is an extremely weak race and few of these make no appeal whatsoever. Mucky Molly caused a 33/1 upset on penultimate start, set stiff task last time out in seller and this much more realistic off just a 3lb higher mark but not guaranteed to back that recent win up and yet to win off a mark in the 50’s yet. Michaels Nook looks in the grip of the handicapper at present and 2 efforts on this surface don’t offer much hope neither. Ishetoo keeps offering glimmers of hope but not enough to be a serious contender especially after 2 poorer efforts since a short break. Sextons House remains one to tread very carefully with shown more attitude than anything, tried in all sorts of headgear 1 run here showed nothing. I personally think San Jose City is a ridiculous price, he ran an average race at Kempton last time out on first run for over 220 days, this is a quick enough turnaround 3 days later but cheekpieces refitted, and does have form on surface when fresh in 2008 but ran a stinker on only other start here which is a worry. Mataajir is worth a chance in such a weak race. He has slowly been coming down the weights and has now fallen to 4lb below his last course winning mark and caught the eye on 3 starts back around here over 6f staying on when race was over, step back up in trip positive and professional jock booked. 2pt win Mataajir 11/4 bet365

Richard Fahey picked up a couple of winners on the opening day, and while Hi There appears his second string yet, he could go well at a decent price. Hi There has been very consistent and gradually improved through last season. There is every chance he could continue on that upward curve and if he does he could go close here. Mr Spiggott is another at a decent price and Richard Hughes is an eye catching booking for a small yard who had a winner this week. Mr Spiggott goes well on the surface and is only a couple of pounds higher than his last win on the heavy over this distance. That was a while ago, however he has run well in the meantime and is still lightly raced. It was a fair effort at Windsor on his penultimate start on similar going last season. 3:15 Doncaster: Switcher 1pt win 9/1 Ladbrokes Switcher may have a little to find however she could be well named as horses switching to David O'Meara very often improve, and this former Tom Dascombe inmate may not need to find too much here to be in the shake up. She has run well in decent company both here and in France. She started last season off in the Fred Darling at Newbury. The going is likely to suit, as will the ability to be effective over further, as this six will take a bit of getting on this soft going by these sprinters. 3:50 Doncaster: Hit The Jackpot 1pt win 16/1 Ladbrokes & Swiftly Done 1pt win 25/1 Bet365 Rather like Switcher Hit The Jackpot is interesting on debut for David O'Meara. Hit The Jackpot was running in Group races last season with credit so this represents a drop in class. That form is hard to assess back in handicap company here particularly as all his runs last year were behind Light Heavy, yet this well bred sort has the look of a horse that could take off, and maybe this is the start. The going should not be a problem.The yard are in form, Danny Tudhope takes the ride and he'll either go very close or finish well out the back. Swiftly Done put in a poor performance in the Cambridgeshire, however prior to that he had put in several decent performances which suggest he is overpriced here. Last season Swiftly Done won here on soft in June before following up at Newcastle on heavy. In the Befred Mile at Goodwood Swiftly Done was full of running when not getting a clear run and with Luke Leadbitter taking seven pounds off he looks capable of a good run.
