Flat Racing 7th March

Recommended Posts

2.50 Southwell Tough little race with a few of these having reasonable fibresand form to their names. Very First Blade won last time out on the back of an improved effort on this surface in a seller over this trip clearly showing he is in good heart. 7lb rise looks enough to stop him for now. Illustrious Lad is frustrating and one to tread very carefully with, surface an unknown. Onceaponatime also finds himself on that list at present, completely lost the plot after a long break and has plummeted in the weights, does have form on fibresand but whether he still retains any ability to win races anymore seriously in question at present. Pull The Pin hasn’t stood much racing and shown little but what little form he has shown has been on this surface, fared aswell as could have been expected in a weak maiden over 5f around here last week better off in handicap but probably still going to need more. Ishi comes from the Millman yard who have a good record in this surface. Ran a good enough race last time out on this surface on penultimate start in a selling handicap, this is a tiny bit tougher and inside draw also off putting. Also needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort last time out at Kempton but this surface may be the key to her. Gonna take two in this tough little handicap. Upper Lambourn is becoming one to tread carefully with but he has ran better races than perhaps finishing positions suggest given some dodgy rides in the process. Fanning an eye catching booking and does know how to ride this place like the best of them. First chance at a 0-52 handicap having been dropped another 3lb since last run which was an improved effort again, he is 17lb lower than his last handicap winning mark and is likely to pop up at some point sure to be staying on at the death from a wide draw. Another that is drawn out wide and likely to be staying on past rivals at the death is Flow Chart. He finally capitilised on potential he had shown at times. He isn’t easy to predict but he was one I was chasing last winter on this surface obviously had lack of opportunities this winter but did manage to score at polytrack at Wolves last time out scoring with more than winning margin suggests, 3lb rise looks fair and is very well handicapped on 2yr old and some 3yr old form. If they go hard up front he will be finishing well and he has run well onthis surface several times including a win. 1pt win Upper Lambourn 8/1 bet365 1pt win Flow Chart 5/1 bet365 4.30 Southwell Another handicap with plenty of course specialists. Flying Pickets and Imprimus Tagula both can go well here but most form has come in sellers and claimers and probably outclassed in this lineup. Alpha Tauri has won 4 times around here was 3rd behind Masai Moon last time out and still looks high enough in the weights at present. Tight Lipped has twice ran well here including last time out behind Caledonia Prince, visor on for the first time today and could be open to further improvement off same mark back on this surface. Caldercruix was an easy winner on this surface around this time last year off a 3lb higher mark, out of sorts on polytrack most recently but no surprise to see him bounce back here off a lenient mark, yard finally had a horse show something last night at Kempton but yard form is a worry ahead of his return from a short break. All 4 of Only Ten Per Cent have come around here, he has now dropped to 1lb below his last winning mark, he hasn’t been beaten on polytrack recently to suggest he is in good enough form but might need bit more today. Bitaphon built on promise on polytrack winning here last time out was all out to score that day 3lb rise leaves him looking exposed. Gonna take a risk on Masai Moon bouncing back from a slightly disappointing effort last time out in a polytrack claimer. He previously went close on this surface off a 1lb lower mark in refitted blinkers, easy to excuse effort in claimer which was slowly run caught wide without blinkers. Blinkers back on today and stall 6 a good draw over this trip would be no surprise to see him go well back on this surface having won here twice including off a 5lb higher mark. 2pt win Masai Moon 13/2 bet365
