3:40 Southwell: Omid 1pt win 8/1 Coral Omid is quite lightly raced on the all weather and he looks capable of going close today. He started off well here at Southwell with a couple of decent runs before seemlngly going off the boil. He's been given some time off and then ran well for a long way when giving weight to Kazbow who is much higher rated last time. That should put him right for today and with Luke Morris in the plate he looks overpriced

Re: Flat racing ~ Tuesday 5th March 2.10 Southwell Witchry has ran ok here on a few previous starts but yet to threaten the judge and despite falling mark has plenty to prove after a break on the back of some dismal efforts. Bonnie Prince Blue is a regular around here but struggles to win these days mainly because of his dreadful starts. Mango Music caught many eyes 3 weeks ago over this course over 6f when staying on well out, steps upto 7f again today and is well handicapped on very best form but whether this track really suits is a risk. Meydan Style hasn’t won for a long time but was another that caught the eye last time out staying on well over CD, Fanning a strong booking if able to build on that should go close. For me Bentley looks the most likely winner. He has 3 wins around here and is a regular here, not seen for a year before last time out when running a huge race behind the thriving Our Ivor last time out pulling well clear of 3^rd. Handicapper been very kind dropping him a 1lb now putting him 15lb lower than his last winning mark. Wide draw not a problem around here and should be in the mixup with a repeat performance. 2pt win Bentley 3/1 vc 4.10 Southwell Maslak won around here on penultimate start before bombing at Lingfield latest under a penalty, 4lb lower today from that run 2lb higher for the win, still well handicapped on best form but is becoming increasingly inconsistent and a risky proposition at present. Rubi Dia has gone well here and won 2 races around here but joins another new yard and not seen for a year has to be watched. Amtired has run well on this surface previously before being switched to hurdles and has made up into a reasonable sort in that sphere. Still a maiden on the flat and ran on the flat for this yard on penultimate start over this trip on polytrack didn’t appear to stay that well and stamina could well be further stretched on this surface. Corn Maiden is thriving on this surface at the moment beating a weak field last time out easily, 6lb rise fair and looks the one to beat at present at least he is proven in good heart and on the surface. 2pt win Corn Maiden 5/2 vc 4.40 Southwell Plenty of southwell specialists in this field! Dubawi Island’s only win has come on this surface but this mark just about sums him up and was bitterly disappointing last time out on polytrack. Tarts 7lb claim handy but looks hugely overbet because of that. The Lock Master has a good record around here with 3 wins but he now finds himself on a mark he has never been competitive on so looks to need some help from the handicapper. Piceno is consistent but is finding winning hard and mark hasn’t moved since winning off 65 in Oct 2012 on turf so a mark of 75 is perhaps just out of reach. Caledonia Prince another course specialist who is 5 from 9 winning his last 2 starts here. Last 2 efforts have both been career best efforts suggesting he is going the right way again on this surface, unpenalised for win in apprentice handicap last week and has to be considered but is short enough. For me Dubai Hills is the most interesting finally being allowed to return to this surface he is 4 from 5 around here last seen around here winning off a mark of 87, finds himself on 82 now. Slight concern is the trip given those wins were over 7f but opportunities are limited for a horse of his ability on this surface and although not won over a mile has several good efforts to his name. Has also gone well fresh in past so be no surprise to see him go well at a good price. 2pt win Dubai Hills 11/2 vc
