Flat racing 11th Feb

Recommended Posts

5:30 Wol - Spinning Ridge A winner nine days ago, Spinning Ridge comes into this race as top weight, although after having been triumphant in an apprentice race, he is only penalized 3lbs. Then, the young jockey was carrying a 5lb allowance, although today, despite being the same jockey, is 7lbs, meaning that the 8yo’s only real rise is 1lb. The jockey did not appear to use the whip LTO, either, which is an obvious plus and he can boast 3 winners in his last 7 rides.

Re: Flat racing 11th Feb 4.30 Wolverhampton One hell of a competitive handicap for the time of the year. Plenty of inform sorts. Brimstone Hill has been consistent all winter and has paid for that in his handicap mark finding himself now 10lb above his last winning mark and this looks a much stronger race than normal. Noble Jack is in great form at present but a 5lb rise for latest win could be enough to scupper a hatrick given he has struggled off similar marks in past. Knowe Head has become tough to win with and is reliant on a strong pace, he has gone up 3lb for latest 2nd and is another that has won off a mark this high. Exning Hall is interesting, he won a weak maiden on his comeback and is fresher than most. This mark looks probably his limit having been placed off this sort of mark last summer so does need to step up but is lightly raced to think he may at somepoint. Idol Deputy has been in the form of his life this winter and gets on really well with this apprentice. He isn’t straightforward and only scores by narrow margins had always struggled to win a class 5 handicap but has done that last twice, this is another step up in class again from a 3lb higher mark and has to step up again. Patriotic is interesting he has been consistent all winter and showed a real sign he was coming back to his best last time out at Lingfield when staying on very strongly from off a slow pace. That race is working out well with the winner winning again off a 4lb rise he races off same mark today. He has won off this mark in the past and should go well with a much stronger pace likely today. 2pt win Patriotic 7/2 bet365 5.30 Wolverhampton Spinning Ridge can be a tricky customer often needs the leaders to fall back in his face to win but had been running well before winning last time out 3lb rise not excessive he remains well treated on his very best form and can not be easily ruled out. Ace Master wasn’t beaten far last time out but this mark just about sums him up and wide draw unhelpful. Fleetwoodsands bounced back to form last time out in first time blinkers, he didn’t have an easy run through given his wide draw in stall 13 so that effort is worth upgrading slightly for all it was a weak race. A 2lb rise looks extremely lenient given he has won off a mark of 65 and is rated just 52 now. The blinkers do need to work again though but is atleast well drawn this time. Katmai River for me is the most interesting at the prices he is well drawn in stall 2. He returned to form last time out in an apprentice handicap under fairly delicate ride, he was without the visor last twice they are back on today and all bar one of his 6 wins have come with the visor on. He is 8lb below his last winning mark and very useful female apprentice takes a handy 5lb off and should go well at what looks a big price. 1pt e/w Katmai River 10/1 SJ
