Mowgli77's Jumps/Flat Thread 2013 - Eyecatchers

Recommended Posts

Going to run a jumps thread until the end of the season. I'll include bets but the thread will mainly be for me to write my thoughts about races/horses and will include previews, analysis etc and a list of horses to keep an eye on. I'm recording all my bets in a spreadsheet but I really need somewhere to post my thoughts after a race and this is the main point of this thread. Hope to get some discussion going with other punters around festival chances and Aintree hopes and I've got time to keep it up to date now. I'll be getting to a few meetings as I have one of those Go Racing In Yorkshire passes that Whoneedsrio introduced me to. Here are the horses I have listed to follow and brief notes: Charingworth - Chases, class 2/class 3 Isla Pearl Fisher - Chaser, ideally on good ground Bold Sir Brian - Chaser, progressive, listed class or above? Brave Spartacus - Novice Chaser, won really easily, will fly up the ratings Vintage Star - Novice Chaser, 3m type, won easily, entered at Wetherby at weekend but didn't run, has other entries too Upsie - Hurdler, likely to be seen in Ireland, make a note to watch it These are just a few I have noted and I'm keen to follow as they should pay their way. The more obvious ones that are in my official 10 to follow lists are horses such as: Simonsig Finian's Rainbow Bobs Worth Cinders And Ashes Sir Des Champs Sprinter Sacre Oscar Whisky Darlan Captain Conan Overturn Sizing Europe Interested to see how Sizing Europe gets on today and if age will eventually catch up with it. I'd like to see it go the Ryanair route, loves Cheltenham and jumps really well. Wasn't impressed with Captain Conan yesterday but still showed it has guts and determination to get up on the line, good battling quality where poorer horses would just have folded. May have been in need of the run as it hasn't had much work over winter apart from indoors. I still think Cinders and Ashes could have a chance in the Champion Hurdle but it does have a lot to prove. I felt the ground went against it and it needs good ground or just on the soft side of good but no worse. Also think Sir Des Champs can come on a lot for the Lexus race and might win the Gold Cup. Hoping to get to one or two Cheltenham Festival Preview Evenings soon, really looking forward to 4 days of top class racing. Haven't had a bet today but put Tap Night as my BBOTD and sure enough gets turned over at odds on. I was impressed with Overturn earlier but if it races from the front like that at the festival it is likely to just set the race up for Simonsig. It does get into a good rhythm though and looks like the most serious rival to trouble the hot favourite. It's hard to know what to make of the form of Overturn or Simonsig as they have both won their chases so easily and haven't really been asked a question. I want to know what these horses have to offer off the bridle when push comes to shove but they are drifting past rivals still on the bridle with ease. Undecided how to play that race or if there is anything else to trouble these two. Horses to follow (list updated 3/2 13) Charingworth - Chases, class 2/class 3 Isla Pearl Fisher - Chaser, ideally on good ground Bold Sir Brian - Chaser, progressive, listed class or above? Brave Spartacus - Novice Chaser, won really easily, will fly up the ratings Vintage Star - Novice Chaser, 3m type, won easily, entered at Wetherby at weekend but didn't run, has other entries too Upsie - Hurdler, likely to be seen in Ireland, make a note to watch it Mail De Bievre - likely to go QMCC at Cheltenham, playing for a place Captain Chris - ew chance for Gold Cup, needs to jump well, not to the right Two Rockers - hurdler from Alan King yard, may swerve Cheltenham and go to Aintree or Punchestown, clearly talented Sixty Something - 3m stayer, ran well at Haydock and caught the eye, future winner? Seymour Eric - see what handicapper does and then assess if to follow Cloudy Too - form franked and still improving, good attitude, can win again, ideally under Timmy Murphy Wilde Ruby - hurdles but will go chasing, ran well on good ground behind Tweedledrum Ulysse Collonges - only 5 yrs old, might need cut in ground, one to keep on side Aaim To Prosper - hurdler, could go to Cheltenham, likely to be on a decent mark Massini Lotto - hurdle winner but future chase winner, good attidue, won going away comfortably

Re: Mowgli77's Jumps Thread 2013 - All roads lead to Cheltenham Phil, i remember Charingworth when i selected it at Cheltenham last year and you had backed it also. Beaten 28L behind Salut Flo in the Byrne Plate. The Good news is it will have come down the weights a bit, possibly to 129 or 130? Will be interested to see if Ferdy takes it there again?
