How could I have played this hand?

keepsakes

In 6 seated table(0.5/1). Everyone folded before button. Button raised to 3bb and SB re-raised to 8bb. I was holding 99 so I called the re-raise and even button. Flop came 2 2 3r and pot was 24. SB check and I bet 10 dollars and button re-raised to 20 dollars. SB folded and I just called the re-raise. Now pot was 64 and turn came K. I checked as my 9s were weak against turn card. My opponent called 48 dollars. What I should do? Stack sizes: button 140 dollars, small blind 120 dollars and big blind(me) 230 dollars.

Re: How could I have played this hand? Unless you have a super read on this guy then this is an easy fold. Once you lead out on the flop and the button calls he's got something better than 99. He doesn't know what the sb is going to do, so he can't flat with a pair smaller than yours. The problem is the flop. People see a flop 322r and say "That's a good flop for me". Well, without the lead it most certainly is not. An aggressive player will pummel you on all three streets on this board, because you can't represent anything better than the very type of hand you've got, a medium pair. From his viewpoint the only hand that you could be holding that could withstand any sort of pressure here is 33 or the unlikely 22. That's it. On the other hand his range contains those hands, all the overpairs, all the 2s and Kx type hands. Once you donked the flop you should be folding the reraise, as you are turning your hand into a bluff, and a very unlikely one at that.
