Flat Racing Tues 28th

6.20 Southwell Very interesting race with plenty of course form on the table. Med Sea has plenty of form around here but handicapper looked to be in charge on recent efforts around here and although use of very useful apprentice may help she also has to deal with a trip that does perhaps just stretch her others look less risky. Veloso caused somewhat of a surprise in a total farce of a Amateur race 2 weeks ago over CD when most of the field was running out of the handicap due to a BHA cock up. Handicapper had his say today with a 15lb rise and overall profile lately very patchy despite still being on a workable mark. Shifting Gold goes well here and was last seen winning over CD in April not seen since and 2lb rise not a worry but break is. No Time To Lose is unexposed and won last time out on second handicap start at Lingfield over further and 6lb rise fair but whether the drop back in trip isnt ideal on this surface against proven rivals. Three White Socks could be dangerous again off an 8lb higher mark having beaten Veloso and previous course winner Omid, that form looks reasonably solid but 8lb does look a little harsh and career high mark now. Cape Safari could be a lively outsider especially considering she is 2 from 3 around here and the other effort was a solid 2nd. Only 2lb higher since last win and bounced back to form on polytrack recently and although last last time out not beaten far over this trip for first time. Does still have to prove stamina but booking of Morris over yards usual apprentice a positive and must go close. 1pt e/w Cape Safari 10/1 bet365 7.20 Southwell A race in which most of these find it hard to win. Chez Vrony hasn’t stood much racing for his age and often races with big gaps between runs, better run last time out over CD staying on at closing stages. Has to back that up and looked in need of further. Jackie Love has been very hard to win with but did win on turf recently in soft ground and also won on polytrack in December. Very consistent but doesn’t get head in front as much as should needs to be on best behaviour to get head in front again. Surface also an unknown despite handling cut in the ground on turf. Not My Choice was formely very useful but shadow of former self these days. Best form for some time when 2nd at Lingfield last time out but doesn’t appeal as an obvious sort to back that effort up despite being very well handicapped and handles this surface. Community was kept busy around here in early part of year and did manage a win in a weak maiden. Bounced back to best when a narrow winner of Brighton selling handicap last time out up 3lb not harsh having dropped a long way in the weights and that form has been boosted by the 2nd and 4th since going well. She was fresh that day and whether that is the key to her has to be seen and not sure she is much value at 9/2. Saktoon could be a lively outsider in this field under an apprentice claiming a very tasty 7lb for a yard that have plenty of winners around here. Only has 2 pieces of form to date in the form book and they both come over this course including over this trip off a 2lb higher mark. Done nothing on turf or polytrack since and is fresher than most of these after a break and could be very interesting returned to this surface. 1pt e/w Saktoon 20/1 bet365

Re: Flat Racing Tues 28th 16.45 Ripon: Flipping @ 14/1 Paddy Power The last win is quite a while ago for Flipping, though he had to race of high marks thanks to a hefty raise in the weights after he won two in a row in autumn of 2010. He won there of marks off 62 and 68 but is after a couple of poor efforts down to a mark of 60 now. If he could run to his best he'd be obviously very well handicapped. What speaks really in his favour is the more and more soft becoming going at Ripon as he loves the mud and as more rain as better for him. 18.20 Southwell: Sherman McCoy @ 12/1 William Hill Really competitive looking handicap but I really like the chance of the on fibresand unexposed Sherman McCoy. He ran only once here, earlier the year in a very strong class 3 handicap and despite finishing only 5th a good deal beaten he certainly didn't look like a horse that hated the surface. It was actually not a bad performance and he travelled pretty well, though he just wasn't good enough in the end and was hampered in the closing stages as well. It is to note that this performance came of a 13lb higher mark than the current one. So this here, down in class and with less weight is obviously easier on his second attempt on fibresand. I thought he showed a return to form at Wolverhampton lto when he was very much in the mix for a long time though just didn't have enough to offer in the closing stages to finish better than a three lengths beaten 4th of five in a strong race. It's a bit doubtful if he really gets the 14f well but what might help tomorrow is the fact that he may can go his own way from the front as the only confirmed front-runner.
