sarah07
The daughter of Commands showed an impressive trial with an excellent victory at Monday's Swan Hill. At her public appearance last July 31 at Wangaratta, Commanding Jewel scored a 12-length win. Then after trainer Leon Corstens decided on a country maiden filly's race debut. Atlantic Jewel's little sister jumped smartly to take a position outside the leader early in the Heart Of The Murray Maiden Plate (975m) before ambling to the lead early in the straight. "Today she anticipated the start and she was first out,†Commanding Jewel’s jockey Jamie Mott told TVN. "It was good she was able to settle outside the leader. She travelled really nice.†Commanding Jewel ($1.14 fav) quickened before ducking back to the inside rail inside the 200 but Mott rode her out without using the whip to score by 1-1/2 lengths. "She’s got the makings of a really nice horse,†Mott said. "I straightened up, brought her back underneath me, and just waited a bit. She’s got a really nice turn of foot.†Don’t Get Excited ($8) showed he is ready to win shortly with his effort to finish second while Magnus Belle ($15) led before fading late to finish third.
