Flat Racing Monday 30th July

3.15 Yarmouth Soap Wars ran extremely well on seasonal reappearance last week over CD, but his record fresh is impressive and wouldnt be a sure bet to back that effort up. Paradise Spectre can be forgiven his run last time out on some pretty testing ground but had previously been showing enough to suggest he could get another win off this sort of mark especially with yard in such good form although that does seem to be steadying up at present. For me Five Star Junior offers a slightly dark horse, on a long losing run but showed he was no back number last time out over CD when 3rd behind Soap Wars last week, staying on strongly in a race not run to suit plenty of pace in this race with Soap Wars, Peace Seeker, Paradise Spectre and even Beat The Bell sometimes up with pace should ensure a strong gallop over a CD he has shown plenty of liking for in the past and 7lb below his last turf winning mark his turn might be sooner and at 9/1 offers some value in my view. 1pt win Five Star Junior 9/1 pp 4.05 Lingfield Negin ran to bad to believe last time out having bolted up at Newmarket in soft conditions the time before, was unable to back that up next time out at Doncaster off a 8lb higher mark on similar ground conditions. His Newmarket form was given a boost recently with the 3rd and 4th both running well next time out so hard to blame the 8lb rise for the poor run next time out. One excuse could have been the tactical nature of the race given it was just a 5 runner event in the end and not a solid pace and did cause her to be very keen. This should be run at a much more solid tempo around here and first time hood is fitted and time and time again we have seen this aid used by the big Newmarket yards to good effect mainly just to calm horses down. One small worry would be the one run on the AW was someway below recent form but surely has to be given a second chance in a handicap. 1pt win Negin 7/1 bet365 8.05 Wolverhampton Wouldnt be surprised to see Catflap a slightly bigger price in the morning but unfortunately I am unable to put this up tomorrow so will have to take BOG on a price that still offers something for me! Catflap had shown a reasonable level of form on the AW this spring to suggest a mark of 62 is well within reach, had a short break before making handicap debut off a 2lb higher mark on turf debut aswell. Totally bombed and now has to bounce back but should come on for the run and the return to the polytrack surely another positive from a reasonable draw surely has to go well at a price! 1pt e/w Catflap 12/1 bet365

Re: Flat Racing Monday 30th July *Mubtadi - Yarmouth 3:50* Won a maiden at Brighton in 2010, it's only win, and has been quite poor since then, but is now down to a very attractive mark, and should certainly be able to win off it. It is a slight worry the trainer, Mohammed, has only had 1 winner from his 38 runners to date, but the fact the horse has attracted money, it has to be of interest. This horse was 2nd off a mark of 81 in the summer last year, and it ran well for a long way at Newmarket last time out and has been dropped 3 pounds for that, and has also been dropped in grade tomorrow from Class 3 to Class 4. Interestingly, the trainer's only ever winner came here at Yarmouth, and he has only ran 2 horse's here before. *1 Point WIN @ 15/2 VC BOG*
