sarah07
Peter Moody-trained Black Caviar will be released from quarantine today Wednesday then will undergo series of veterinary tests, before releasing any statements whether she will race again or not. The champion mare got her unbeaten record to 22 when she won last month at the Group I Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot. Black Caviar suffered multiple muscle injuries during the race and the trainer with his team will be deciding, if those injuries are career-ending over the next week. Owner Neil Werrett said,"We have purposely waited until she has got out of quarantine, so that Peter and his vets can have a real good look at her.'' ''They will be going over her from top to tail and if there is any long-term damage we will not risk racing her again. "She has had a number of issues throughout her career, including a tendon [injury] when she was two and three. She is getting older and the wear and tear is starting to take its toll. ''We are not going to rush it. It might take a couple of weeks, but we want to make sure she is 100 percent if she goes back into training.'' Werrett, who part-owns Vinery Stud, is aware Black Caviar could head to stallion this season but he has yet to draw up a short list of prospects. ''The timing would be right to go to stud this year if the decision is made [to retire her] in the next month or two,'' Werrett said. ''We have only just started to look at crosses and work out which stallion she could visit because if it is not this year it will be next.'' If Black Caviar will return to the race track, the Group I Patinack Classic and another trip to Hong Kong for the International Sprint in December are the next target for the daughter of Bel Esprit..
