cim85 Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 By Mark Ryan MELBOURNE, April 8 AAP - Dual stakes placegetter Imprimis gets her chance to break through for her first win after trainer Mick Cerchi opted to start her at Caulfield on Monday. The Flemington trainer had the daughter of Group One winner MAGNUS nominated for Saturday's $70,000 Melbourne's Greatest Ever Easter Egg Hunt Hcp (1100m) but chose to start her in Monday's $30,000 Hyderabad Racing Club Hcp (1000m). A $50,000 purchase at a Melbourne weanling sale, Imprimis is from the same family as ill-fated Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker. She is out of the Rory's Jester mare Tendency who won at Moonee Valley as a two-year-old. Placed in four of her six starts, Imprimis was runner-up to Cambiaso at her debut in the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on October 2 last year. She was spelled after finishing sixth to Jimando and seventh behind Applegate, both at Listed level, and resumed with a third to Fire Thunderbolt in the Listed Streets Ice Cream Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on March 3. Imprimis has been placed in all three runs this preparation with a second to Chosen Moment over 1000m at the Bendigo metropolitan meeting on March 17 followed by a second to Dashitude over the same trip at Caulfield on March 24. "We selected the Monday instead of Saturday and hopefully that's her race," said Cerchi who has a team of 10 in work. "She's consistent and she's bounced back well since her last start when she was backing up in a week so fingers crossed she can get the money and then she can have a little break." Steven King, who had ridden Imprimis four times for two placings, retains the mount on the filly who drew nicely in barrier three. "You'd think this target wouldn't be too hard for her. She really should have the wood on those horses as she has the experience and the toughness and she's drawn well," Cerchi said. Quote
