2 Brief ones for a tricky looking card at Lingfield! 12.25 Lingfield Kiss A Prince boasts an impressive record around here with 5 wins from 17 starts hasnt been in quite the same form this winter but signs that he was returning to something like his old self last few starts and most promising on latest start, having been held up as normal in a race that paid to race prominent (winner made al) he also met trouble in running and returned to Lingfield off yet another 1lb lower mark he should make his presence felt with headgear back on (left off last time) is now 9lb below last winning mark and should get a strong pace to chase with Calypso Cay, Whodunit, Marvo and Trip Switch all liking to race handy. The other that interests me at a price is The Mongoose who showed plenty of promise in 2 maidens as a 2yr old, has since proved costly to follow in 3 starts last season but I was at Windsor when he made his seasonal reappearance and he looked a big imposing sort that clearly had some growing still to do. Has since left Stoute and been gelded and joined a stable renowned for picking up these sorts and getting wins into them and also in great form at the moment if he is ready to go after a 3 month absence he could turn out to be well treated off a mark of 70 especially on 2nd run as a 2yr old that looks a strong maiden. 2pt win Kiss A Prince 11/2 bet365 1pt e/w The Mongoose 12/1 vc 1.00 Lingfield With Cashelgar in the field it has pushed several of these out of the handicap most notably the in form Tadabeer who was found a weak maiden to get off the mark last time out but was well held off a 4lb lower mark prior to that, also 3lb out of the handicap although apprentice does claim back 5lb off that but perhaps there will be easier races for him in the coming months. Tinshu produced a career best effort over this CD last time out when landing a listed event and earning herself some black type handicapper reacted to that with a 6lb rise in the weights and will need to step up again to take this off a mark of 91 although not ruled given she has a good reputation for holding her form. But for me Emarald Witness is the one they all have to beat, had previously been running well before regaining the winning thread last time out over CD, winning easier than the margin suggests and will need things to open up again with his run style but from a handicapping point of view a 4lb rise looks very lenient given the 2nd has since won off a 2lb higher mark and also the 5th ran a solid 2nd next time out, his record on the polytrack is impressive with 15 starts has 5 wins and 7 placed efforts, and remains well handicapped on best form given he has won off 98 at Kempton 2009 and spent early 2010 competing in hot handicaps in Meydan without winning but holding his own in hot company and at his best he is a lot better than these. 2pt win Emarald Witness 9/2 bet365

He is 6lbs below his last winning mark and he ran well last time out at Wolverhampton. He looks ready to strike and this is his favourite track. Shane Kelly has ridden the horse before and this race looks as though it will be set up for something coming off the pace. Whodunit won well last time out but he will find it hard to dominate this field. Trip the Switch is in great form and is probably still ahead of the handicapper and he looks to be the main danger.
