Re: Kontinental Hockey League KHL 2011-2012 Salavat Yulaev Ufa - Atlant Mytishi New season of KHL will start on 7th of September 2011 with the Opening Cup at Ufa Arena, Bashkorotstan. Home side previous season play-off champion Salavat Yulaev against previous season play-off runner-up Atlant from Mytishchi, Moscow Oblast. Needless to say this teams met last season so they know a bit of each other. However, during the summer break both teams made some transfers. They have signed not only new players but also coaches. Former head coach of Atlant Milos Riha replaced by Gustafsson, whereas Salavat Yulaevs Bykov and Zakharkin replaced by 'old-new' Sergei Mikhalev. Atlant signed following players: gk. Kochnev, fw. Rudenko (both - Lokomotiv), def. Niskala (Metallurg Mg), def. Fernholm (Dinamo Minsk), def. Zubarev (Atlanta, NHL), def. Kosmachev (Toros, VHL), def. Vishnevsky (Rockford, AHL), def. Baev, fw. Rybakov (both - Severstal), def. Batyrshin, fw. Bobrov (both - Vityaz), fw. Kovalev (Pittsburgh, NHL), fw. Zherdev (Philadelphia, NHL), fw. Zakrisson (Linköping, Sweden), fw. Andersson (Ak Bars), fw. Radivojevic (Spartak). It should be also mentioned among a few others such key-players as Mozyakin, Irgl, Marek left the club. Salavat signed fw. Maxim Sushinsky (SKA), Mirnov (Sibir), Trubachev (Severstal), Mamin, Radulov (Metallurg Mg), def. Atyushov (Metallurg Mg), Richard Steglik (Brno), Gimaev (Barys). This season Ufa Arena will miss strikers Vladimir Antipov, Patrick Thoresen, Vyacheslav Kozlov, Kirill Koltsov, defenders Dmitri Kalinin, Alexander Riazantsev, Thomas Starosta and gk Alexander Eremenko. Pre-season matches showed that both teams are far from their best form. Head to head stats does not indicate a clear favorite between this two sides either. In my opinion, both teams have more or less equal chances to win the match. Said that, my pick is Atlant to win the match (incl over-time and penalties) @ 3.00 bwin [str. 1/10]
