Darlo Fan 1
I have been playing single touraments on BlueSq & Betfair for a while now but havnt ever quite understood these multi-tournaments. My understanding of it is that you make one payment for your seat and then if you win the touny, your entered into another one and then another etc until you reach that final table with a big prize stake? Also, with single tournaments they just start all the time but the multi ones seem to have hours of waiting times.... is this the same everytime you qualify for the next table, and are you dq'd if you dont turn up? Do most people here play multi or singles? Thanks :)
Jezza
Re: Multi Tournaments Right Darlo what you are talking about there are "satelites". These are usually multi table tournaments (but can be single/double tables as well) and like you say they act as feeders to other, bigger tournaments. Say you play in a 2 dollar sattelite for a 100 dollar tournament and 300 people enter. This is 600 dollars in the prize pool and therefore 6 entrys into the 100 dollar tournament. So the 2 dollar one you have entered is played down until there are only 6 people left and they all win the same prize where they go and play in the 100 dollar tourney later on that day/week. However most multi table tourneys are not satelites, they are just bigger versions of what you are playing just now. There is no limit to how many people can enter, nowadays tourneys on the net can have 2000 players in them no bother! As the amount of entrants goes up so do the amount of places paid money. A rough guide might be the top 10% finishers of players get into the money so 100 places get paid in a tourney of 1000 people and so on. As you get higher up the finishing ladder your prize money increases until first place which gets the lions share of the prize pool (20-30% depending on amount of entrants). You can get some very large prizes for your entry stake. A first place prize of 2000 is not uncommon for a 10 dollar entry MTT on some sites these days. They are played just the same as normal tournaments, all the tables blinds etc increase at exactly the same time and everyone starts with the same amount of chips. As players get knocked out you will find yourself being moved around by the software as tables are closed and other ones filled Jez
