Best Motion Picture Drama: The Aviator @1.72 Million Dollar Baby @3 Finding Neverland @7.5 Kinsey @11 Hotel Rwanda @13 Closer @19 Martin Scorsese's 'The Aviator' looks nailed on. got six nominations for the GG which are considered as pre-Oskars. it's getting very good reviews all around and is being described as the best Scorsese's since the Goodfellas'. last time Martin's picture'The Gangs of New York' got a few Oskar nominations only to be left empty handed. it's gonna be his year this time. Best TV Series - Musical or Comedy * Desperate Housewives 2.30 * Arrested Development 2.90 * Sex and the City 4.00 * Will & Grace 9.00 * Entourage 10.00 £91.82 on Desperate Housewives at 2.30 to win Best TV Series - Musical or Comedy The line is out-of-whack against BetWWTS who shifted their odds on Friday from (-120) to (-200). Olympic Sports remains steady at (-200). It is the hot new show. They'll want to beat the Emmys to the punch in rewarding it (as it will not win at the Emmys). It's just received nominations at the Director's Guild of America, Producer's Guild of America, Screen Actor's Guild awards. It has three acting nominations at the Golden Globes. It has industry respect. It has a huge TV audience. It's the new Sex & the City. ....only possible upset is that they'll go for Arrested Development instead. It could happen but at odds of 65/50, I'm willing to say it won't go to any of the other four. £91.82 says I'm right. Best TV Series - Drama * The Sopranos 1.36 * Lost 11.00 * Deadwood 7.00 * Nip/Tuck 11.00 * 24 5.00 £19.20 on Lost at 10.00 to win Best TV Series - Drama Prices are all over the place on this market. BetWWTS has had a nibble on the (+1200) on Lost forcing it into (+1000). Olympic Sports has had a nibble on Deadwood making it go from (+300) from (+350). The HFPA did reward The Sopranos with three awards (Series, Actor and Actress) one time but the hot new show this time around is Lost. It's a bit of a gamble. Plane crash survivors stranded on a desert island? Huge viewing audiences though and they'll want to be kingmakers if they let Lost win. I'm splitting the difference here. It could go to Deadwood as an FYC for the general snub it got at the Emmys last year. Hell, I'm chancing just less than £20 to find out if I'm wrong. Best Film - Comedy or Musical * Sideways 1.60 * Ray 4.25 * Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind 4.50 * The Phantom Of the Opera 7.00 * The Incredibles 10.00 £78.98 on Sideways at 1.60 to win Best Film - Musical or Comedy. It's the best odds that i can find. Olympic Sports have it as (-500). BetWWTS has it at (-1500). They're gonna fall in line and go Sideways. It's got the most Golden Globes noms and it's got strong chances to win in Supporting Actor (Thomas Haden Church will have to fight off Morgan Freeman though) and Supporting Actress (Virginia Madsen has Cate Blanchett to contend with). It's the most likely of these five to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and the GGs will reward it accordingly (they don't want to look stupid).
