Horse winnings and horse earnings

Hi guys, Could anyone shed some light on the difference between horse 'winnings' and horse 'earnings', I see that some horses make earnings without winning, and some horses that win often earn no more than their winnings. Could anyone explain this? Cheers, C

Re: Horse winnings and horse earnings I imagine the winning are from 'win only' part of the race, but earninigs include the place money they pick up as well
