Flat Racing - July 16, Saturday

Newbury 13:45 Leqqaa 2pts win @ SP (5-2 Betting Forecast by Sportinglife & RacingPost) A different class of horse when he won his debut at Leicester (7f) 30 days ago. The rivals were not tough but did beat the 3-1 joint favorite Repeater whom Cheveley Park Stud paid 115,000gns for into 3rd by 7 3/4 lengths. I think his room for improvement is better than the rivals here. He is sired by Street Cry and cost $310,00. A half-brother to very useful Zaham and dam a 1m winner at 2 in France. He is also entered for the Derby. Trained by Mark Johnston and owned Mr Hamdan Al Maktoum with Richard Hills booked to ride. Hills have ridden 4 winners from the last 8 Maktoum owned runners. Hills has one more ride for the owner today and that is the ex-Godolphin inmate Anmar. Newbury 16:05 Anmar 1pt ew @ 25-1 Bet365 Jockey Richard Hill's is booked. It is owned by Mr Hamdan Al Maktoum. Hills for the owner have ridden 4 winners from the last 8. The selection is trained by Ed Dunlop. Dunlop have had his yard in really good form and I think the seasonal debut of the selection can be improved upon. He was 6th of 8 three weeks ago, fading in the final furlong. The trip was the furthest they ever tried him and I think the return to 1m2f will bring him back to top form.

Re: Flat Racing - July 16, Saturday Newbury 16:35 Fury 10pts win @ SP (Betting Forecast, 5-6 SportingLife and 11-8 RacingPost) Unbeaten in two starts over 7f. Did that last year. Raced at 1m this year with no effect. Started the year with a 2000 Guineas 5th placed finish. Then a 2nd of 5 by a nose in a Listed race. 5th of 5th LTO. Debut win came at this course and distance followed by winning the 500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Trophy at Newmarket then put away for the year. This year have not gone as successful but the drop back may be the key with this one.
